Uriah Heep interview (12/2011)

With: Mick Box
Conducted by: Baz Anderson (in person)
Published: 03.12.2011

Band profile:

Uriah Heep

Having spent two thirds of the year on tour, Uriah Heep are finally back in the UK for a cold December tour. Upon meeting the instantly likable Mick Box, he hugs us and shares a joke with us before finding a suitable place to record our chat. Watch the video below to find out what keeps him going, when work on a new album will start, what he thinks about big bands reuniting and life with Uriah Heep in general.

00:06 | How are you doing? How's the UK tour so far?
00:23 | You release Into The Wild this year, which was three years after Wake The Sleeper, does this mean you'll be more active in the studio?
00:45 | You play a lot of shows around the world, where are you most popular?
01:05 | Why aren't the UK fans as numerous?
01:45 | You must have played the same songs millions of times; what keeps you going?
02:14 | You've got so many great songs new and old, how do you pick what you're going to play?
02:41 | Five years ago Saxon did a documentary to try and make themselves more accessible to a younger audience. Have you tried to embrace the internet or open up to a younger audience?
03:37 | Do you think albums released in the 70's and 80's are looked at now in a better light than they were, like age has somehow made them better?
04:46 | Is it weird to be interviewed by someone so young?
05:11 | Do you listen to modern rock and metal?
05:48 | Do you listen to much while on tour?
06:24 | A number of bands have split up and reformed like Black Sabbath recently, do you think it would have been beneficial if you'd have split up and then done a big getting back together thing?
07:19 | Can you say what the best part of being in Uriah Heep is?
07:57 | What is the biggest lesson you've learnt in your career that you could pass on to people in bands, or new bands now?
08:48 | Last words.
