Blut Aus Nord

Further proof that France do own the world's finest black metal bands.
Spanning black metal and industrial/ambient, Vindsval has created an absolute monolithe in post bm. He began with the title 'Vlad' before changing the name after two demos and creating the much loved 'Ultima Thulee' which really put them on the map. As his career progressed he experimented with industrial and ambient and has carved the now highly stylised and distinctive Blut Aus Nord sound.

I guess you're right. Vindsvall always wants to look forward and he has done very well. Not many bands nowadays who plays the same tune like MV I has.

I'm going to include more electronic sounds and new things in the sound of Blut Aus Nord, like a jazzy approach in a few parts. As usual this third chapter will be a different and unique experience." Hard to know exactly what to make of it but yes, I suspect it'll be the least black metal of the trilogy. And the best.

25.02.2012 - 00:47 Written by Guest on 25.02.2012 at 00:40 Looks exactly like the kind of stuff I want to hear... I really want to hear something along the lines of the last 40 seconds of the last song of Desantification. The first time I heard it I got the feeling that it might be a sort of introduction to the last part of the triology... Or so I hope because that was one hell of a cliffhanger when I listened to the album for the first time. I really want to get that album asap and listen to the triology in one sitting.... It'll be beautiful.

Account deleted Written by Slayer666 on 25.02.2012 at 18:41 I'm 99% certain that when he says jazz he does not mean jazz as in saxophones and strumbolas, probably in the sense of more loose structuring and an improv sensibility. I think any kind of actual jazz sound would wreck the sterile tones of BaN.

25.02.2012 - 19:04 Written by Guest on 25.02.2012 at 18:47 Yeah, I know. Adding saxophones would be too weird, even for BaN. It's exactly the structures and improvisations that turn me off the most in jazz, which is why I'm not too sure what to think about Vindsval's statement.

25.02.2012 - 21:03 Written by Guest on 25.02.2012 at 19:06 Wasn't it for MoRT they used fretless guitars? Jazz is very free (in the improv parts as already pointed out) but it's also limited when it comes to scales (I think most traditional Jazz tunes use major scales exclusively but I could be wrong in that) and I don't think a BaN record only using major scales would be a bit of a let down. BaN is and should be about NOISE!

Lame: "contrary to recently mentioned on our Facebook page, the last chapter of the "777" trilogy won't be released in May. Vindsval thinks the album isn't excellent enough and will work further on it. It is absolutely vital that "777 - Cosmosophy" represents a fitting denouement to the trilogy. If all goes according to plan, it will be out at the end of September."
