Which one of Immortal's albums do you like more -- Pure Holocaust or Battles In The North?

I prefer Pure Holocaust. Better production and better guitar and vocal sound. Both very excellent albums by one of my favorite black metal bands.

Pure Holocaust, definitely. It's superior in every way, most notable in the songwriting department.
Prettier than BloodTears.

Only good songs from both of those two albums are As the Eternity Opens and Blashyrkh(Mighty Ravendark)...the rest of both albums is too generic...even for Immortal's standards...
"Cross is only an iron, hope is just an illusion, freedom is nothing but a name..."
"Build your walls of the dead stone...Build your roofs of a dead wood..Build your dreams of a dead thoughts"

Yeah the songs on BITN are poor and the actual musicianship is even worse. It sounds so amateur it's unbelievable, especially the drumming, which reguarlarly loses time or misses beats. BITN is the only Immortal album that I never listen to.

Demonaz guitar playing on Pure Holocaust was somehow unique: something about his technique on that album is very special.

I don't know why, but I always liked "Battles In The North" a lot... maybe the simplicity.

Pure holocaust wins easily for me. bitn was one of those sequels that doesn't live up to the predecessor.

Battles in the North for me. I really like the production of this one, very icy.
...And so death to the falsity of thy former rulers. Thy kingdom of "heaven" burns in a field of fire, and Dentura is the one true God thou must yield thy hearts and souls to in absolute submission. It is his ultimate decree and will unto thee..

Battles, cause it's not quite as chaotic as Holocaust.
"Another day, another Doug."
"I'll fight you on one condition. That you lower your nipples."
"I'll put whatever I want in your mouth!"

Where is the option "neither"? Both albums are mediocre at best.
Now loving:
Hour of Penance - Cast the First Stone
Hate - Indestructible Pillar
Cradle of Filth - Heartbreak and Seance
Dark Tranquillity - Nothing To No One
Immolation - Swarm of Terror
