Metal Storm Awards 2011 - Now Open!

Metalstormers, the time is here once more.

The Metal Storm Awards 2011 are now open!

Throughout January we have been painstakingly working to provide you with a run-down of our nominations for what we feel are the best albums of 2011. It is now your job to check out the cream of the crop, and vote for your favourites.

This is the eighth year of the Metal Storm Awards, and as always you have the month of February to cast your judgement. This year however, we have introduced a couple of new categories; Melodic Black and Djent/Math metal, and also split up a few of the categories that were coupled in previous years.

Don't forget to share this news with your friends, or even start your own campaign over the internet for your favourite bands to win. We have done the hard work bringing you these nominations, now let's have some fun. Useful banners and buttons can be found here.

Results will be announced on the 1st March!

So, it should gonna go in Biggest Surprise or Letdown??

If you ask me... I think it's completely retarded to vote for it in biggest letdown. You have to actually expect something good about an album to consider it a letdown. If you just "didn't expected nothing out of this world"... that is just being indifferent.

Not to mention that pretty much everyone and their mothers knew already it was going to suck and when "The View" was released it was a big confirmation.

Man, the moment i came to know that Lou is collaborating with Metallica...instantly i came to know it gonna be weak record/ crappy slow Rock record.

I never listened to Lou Reed before this colaboration, but I already knew him, of course. That's why I didn't expected nothing out of this world.

In the final, I was wrong...

So, it should gonna go in Biggest Surprise or Letdown??

So I voted Lulu for the biggest letdow.

For me, (may be) it gonna be Megadave's Thirteen. Nothing new. Pretty weak record and expected great output but it turn out to be very amateur record , nothing impressive too. Meh.

Well, if you dig outta 1 good song out of the whole album, album doesn't considered to be good/pleasing. You know it very well. Even i won't put down LULU in a letdown category but i won't deny the fact either that it's a strong contender.

I gave this one a listen to a few songs only. I was never a fan of Megadeth music, so I can't vote for Thirteen in any category.
Everyone like this album, anyway...

i didn't like it. I spun only once and it was something really painful to get through that. Somehow, i manage to get 1 to 2 songs really good but overall, Meh.

I don't think anyone expected it to suck that much.

But still, everyone knew it was going to be bad... It's not a letdown just because it happens to suck more. You are already thinking it's bad.

Hm... maybe it's a letdown to him because his childhood hero, James Hatfield, finally admitted he's just a small town girl?

Really? I pulled most of them out of my arse. Only about 4 of them would be genuine predictions. I figured Septicflesh was a certinty cause it was the top album of the year for about 6 months.
