Doom metal newcomers Pallbearer, who hail from Arkansas and formed in 2008, are about to drop their first full-length album after releasing a demo two years ago in 2010. It is streaming on NPR's site here This is looking like a nice little album. Ye thinks?

Spun it three times now and up till now it is a disapointment when comparing it to their great 2010 demo. Too much noodling going on and too much proggy sort of stuff as well.

Looking at your fav bands I am not surprised What I liked about the demo was its Warning vibe (especially due to the vocals)

Picked up the CD yesterday after listening to the stream all week, and I gotta say, this album is great! Profound Lore Records definitely doesn't disappoint.

With Marcel on this one. Just can't get on board with the new album, it retains too little sound from the demo.

I think you're confusing me with Mr. Doctor, Marcel and I don't agree on all that much when it comes to music. Try visiting the Drudkh, Pilgrim and band shirt threads for recent examples.

Yeah, I am quite puzzled by his remark as well
He should try visiting old school revivalist death metal threads to see how much we agree

My statement wasn't intended to be so much accurate as to just ruffle some feathers a bit. Also your comments have informed me that I am not being notified by the site when I am quoted in text and I clearly have notifications turned on ... must investigate.

I don't think you should worry about that too much (unless you begin to notice that way too much).
It has happened to me before but a couple of times, it just seems like a small bug.

Also, if you are looking for little Marcel.... Hi!
But even between Marcel and I there are a lot of differences I kind of liked Pallbearer but nothing I would go back to. The difference between the other two guys and me is that I didn't really like the demo all that much either.

A bit late, but I really dug this album. It has a nice groove and doesn't overindulge in ambience. Profound Lore seems to deliver pretty consistently with their albums.

I agree with everything that any staff member says here or in any other forum thread, tax statement or church confession! Wait... Perhaps I don't

As for Pallbearer, it's a shame that they didn't live up to the expectations I had having heard their demo. I don't mind noodling so much, but even then the songs on the album lack the impact that the demo had.

Yep. Although the album isn't bad in itself.
If I hadn't heard the demo I think I would have appreciated the album a lot more.
This here is like back in the old days when nowbhm, thrash and death metal released demos that blew everyone away and then when the debut full length came out almost everyone was slightly to a lot disappointed.

That is one of the two tracks that was featured on the demo, although Devoid Of Redemption was a lot stronger on the demo

The other song which is on both the album and the demo is The Legend. Gloomy Sunday was on the demo but not the album and is a cover.
