For anyone who doesn't know Lamb Of God is a (disputed) thrash act from Richmond Virgina. While being very technical, they also have a nice deep chugging feeling throughout their songs. Sometime this Summer they should be releasing their album Sacrement, which is being strictly kept under wraps. What are your thoughts on the band? Do you think the new album will be better then their earlier material? Who is your favorite member in the band and why?

I'm glad to see they played 'Now You've Got Something To Die For' on the UA tour. That's a pretty powerful song (more so than a lot of thrash metal bands) and it's probably my favourite LOG song.

It's one of my least favorites.

I agree. Anyways, dude, have you heard the cd New American Gospel? It's fucking amazing. It's pretty much the only Lamb of God release that I listen to.

Yeah, I have. You know, for a long time there I really depised this band. All my friends (well most of them) were freaking out about them. Normally I would say, they're fans of the band....that's cool. But when they started to say Lamb of God was the only band to listen to and refused to listen anything else, I got irritated. I still hate Ashes of the Wake (with a passion) but from BTP to ATPB they were alright.

Yeah, I tend to despise bands that people freak out about (Children of Bodom), but I first heard them before most people and I don't have any friends that are obsessed with them, so no one has ruined them for me yet.

I just checked out the new song. Randy doesn't sound at all like anything on Ashes, its very different. The sound of the band is slightly changed, but otherwise sounds about the same. I think Randy's vocals are very interesting on this, at times I didn't think it was him doing it, since he has a very distinct voice and sound. The vocals are alittle harsher than those of Ashes, but not the growlings and roars of Burn the Priest or New American Gospel. The song otherwise is good and I enjoyed it. I don't know how Randy's vocals will be for the rest of you, but I think they gel well with the song. I started off hearing Ashes first, but I really enjoyed Randy's vocals on the earlier stuff. On the old Lamb of God forum I noticed Randy's vocals have always been a heated debate as well as detractor for some people trying to get into the band. So hopefully we'll see what people have to say after hearing it.

Hmmmm, the new song sounds like typical Lamb Of God, though the guitar sounds a little more "groovy" to me. Randy's voice is different too. It doesn't matter to me either way, I've never been a huge fan of his voice, so I'm indifferent.

You hit that on the head for sure. I don't know what else to say about it though. Its not a bad thing really though, because they are kind of doing the same thing Pantera was out to do. They both want to play their kind of metal and are devoted to the fans. There's some definate parallels with Pantera, both Southern bands, both have frontmen who like to fight, both bands like to get drunk, both play groove oriented metal. And if you see or watch any pictures or footage of Lamb Of God playing the new Unholy Alliance tour, Randy is bald.

They were great live. I really enjoyed their show, though all of their songs sounded very similar live. Either way, I have more respect for them now.

I'm a big fan of Laid to Rest, Remorse is for the Dead, and Ashes of the Wake. All are great examples of songwriting. They're also somewhat unique in metal because all their songs are written in standard dropped D tuning [higher than most].

I also like them on a more personal level too because their bassist [John Campbell], and drummer [Chris Adler] are vegetarians, like myself. And quite outspoken about it too.

I can't listen to Ashes of the Wake. That album bothers me so much. It's a chore to listen to. I just don't like they style of it at all.

Great band.
I hate that they get called metalcore, they are quite clearly a thrash metal band with death metal influences.
Early works (New American Gospel) show a slight hardcore influence with the breakdowns, but the subsequent 2 albums are nothing but death / thrash, and the sample track for the new album sounds like pure american thrash, very reminiscent of Pantera.

I have listened to there new song and I have to say it's the worst shit I've ever heard. People have been saying whatever they can to defend there precious Lamb of God face it that song is shitty there's no reason to defend there other releases were fine IMO but the song Sacrament is just plain bad. The riff is boring and very simple compared to most of there other riffs and the vocals are a shitty Anselmo rip off. What I will say about it though is it wasn't as bad live without the mock Anselmo vocals.

I figured that I should mention this- at the show, Randy told everyone to steal their albums if we see them in a well-known department store. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Same here. He also called everyone pussies.

At the start of the show, their lights dude came out and ask for some women to flash their video camera.

You know at the end of the day the song Redneck is pretty good, and the thing is the band has changed before. Compare Burn the Priests vocals to that of the New American Gospel, then to Palaces/ Ashes. That was a pretty big change going on there, and the only thing on this one is that he is singing more clearly, yet there still is some of the growl left. I've seen plenty of people freaking out over it and its like get a grip. If they made the same album over and over again it would get really boring fast. Plus its only really the vocals that changed, so you still have the four other guys in the band doing what they do best. It could be far worse, Randy could have done really generic screaming vocals like every other band you hear or see. He said in a snippet in Revolver that the producer made him run around a city block to have real breathless vocals for one song. And instead of being totally political oriented the guys have opted to do a more social oriented record, like social problems (anxiety, depression, fights). Randy said the band wanted to try something different even though the world is more fucked up than ever.

I want to know why he shaved his head. When I look at him now I think of Anton La Vey. I hope someone askes him that in an interview...

By the way Lamb Of God are on Gigantour 2006. So is Opeth, Megadeth, and Overkill.

Well, the music actually has changed a bit. They went from making really fast, in-your-face songs to more structured and technical playing. I hate it when bands do that...
