Gallows Hymn...what a masterpiece

This album really is something special. You can imagine going to ireland and listening to this album full blast, and just taking in the atmosphere that is created. The only thing i could say negatively is that the drums seem to plod on, however they also flow well with the other instruments, so its not that big a deal for me. I would really like to see this band again, they were amazing at bloodstock.

Nemtheanga sounds like Vladimir Vysotsky

Another good one, cant catch up whit The Gathering Wilderness, but this is second best album from the band, one more left(so far) and my journey will be over via this bands disco, excellent album, good songs, lyrics (BTW those would not fit in any other band) , great great masterpiece...

So true! This is damn epic, totally stunning...love it.

Good album but I waited for the black metal parts in vain. Its folk and its post- heavy metal, but not black. Sorry for being such a tagjerker.

What a great album. Empire Falls is easily my favourite, what a great way to open the album.

I dunno, this album has everything a masterpiece should have.. A great vocals, sick riffing and stellar production. Easy 9 out of 10, for me.

Well, the songwriting and production is really good, I just don't remember liking the vocals... I must re listen now.

Still haven't changed my mind, but it's growing on me indeed. It seems I just don't get albums right a way most of the time.

Well, it's not that I don't like the performance, the whole style and sound of vocals presented here that I didn't like at first. I still kind of think this is overrated

However as I mentioned, I have re listened twice today and I like it a lot more.

Guess what? Bumped my rating up to a 9. I have seen the light! And it's beautiful!

Tasty stuff. I get why the vocals might not click with someone during the first listen.

When did you last time find any good albums in the top 200 list? Everything that the many like is overrated. The problem for me with this album is probably the production- Its almost crystal clear (clear production in itself is overrated here) and it adds 0 to the aesthetics of the album. Othervise its a very good album but slightly overrated.

Well I have changed my mind sense then, giving it a 9, but this is not a 10 yet. There are probably a lot of albums I like in the top 200 actually.

Yeah you will probably enjoy lots of stuff there. I listened to much of that stuff when it came and its not that interesting for me to revisit them, Zeppelin and Sabbath will always be great though.
