I'm not one to judge a book by its cover, but I have a feeling this might turn out to be a lot less metalcore/thrash and a lot more deathcore.

I seriously doubt that. To be honest I've never seen any notable metalcore elements in this band aside from the vaguely core-ish vocals and I just don't think it's in their character to go all deathcore on us. Their sound is too heavily steeped in thrash, would just be too much of a change in direction.

Well maybe they'll go a lot more melodic. I dunno, I just sense some kind of bigger change than a logo.

Just look at Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, Anathema, Katatonia, Behemoth, etc.

Well the only thing I can find pertaining to the new album is a few live tracks. Sounds pretty solid, thankfully a million miles away from deathcore:

Not peeing yet, I don't think. He's looking to see if there is anybody down there before he pees. That is so considerate

Either way, if he is peeing or watching a volcano about to erupt, not a great looking cover.

Oh, don't be so cynical

From the vid JOOE posted, (well, that specifically) sounds like Death Angel's more (most?) boring stuff. Million miles away from deathcore? Hell yes. But, thrash that's far and away from metalcore - not really. To my ears, anyway. And did I just hear the singer introduce it as a "nice, slow DEATH METAL tune for you all"?
