I literally have my own private access to a surf break so I would never get anything done working from home, in fact I had the dy off the other day to do some renovation and spent half of the day surfing
?And France is at it again, making exquisite music. It's not black metal as we've been accustomed to hear from this country throughout the years though. Well, there are some slight black influences but Atonal Hypermnesia is more than that, so much more.
In the industrial family, P.H.O.B.O.S. seems to be Blut Aus Nord's cousin and Uncle Godflesh's nephew. He's quite a sophisticated and independent relative though, using some of the mechanical aspects seen in Godflesh but taking away the bludgeoning and aggressive aspect of it in order to have a much colder and indifferent tone. Sounds similar of his compatriots can be heard in the highly dissonant guitars yet again the project's mastermind Frédéric Sacri demonstrates that he's one of the smarter cookies around by taking such sounds and molding them for his own purposes, slowing the riffing to a glacial and agonizing pace.
Take Blut Aus Nord's Procession of the Dead Clowns, slow it down to glacial pace, completely dehumanize guitars, subdue the vocals to the point of non-existence, and add tons of sick reverb. Spice up with dementia and insanity. That's Atonal Hypermnesia for you.
Shit, this really does sound like Blut aus Nord being played under water. Probably the closest I've ever heard a band come to their sound. Immense stuff.

The sound of the guitars is quite impressive, I mean... You can barely hear them sometimes but that's because of the whole underwater effect that I really enjoyed... But they really have cool dissonant riffs here and there.
Great drum programming too, it adds a lot of suspense during some of the silent moments. It's like Blut Aus Nord and Godflesh had some cold and mechanical sex in their pool. Now that Daniel wrote his pick I gotta get my shit done and write my review.

Nearly at the end of the third track now and loving it so far.

Personally I'd suggest you wait a bit before delving into something like this. The mix of industrial and black metal might be a major turn-off for you considering you aren't accustomed to (as far as I know) the likes of Blut aus Nord, Reverence, Samael, Iperyt, and other industrial black metal* bands.
* admittedly I'm not too familiar with this genre myself being that I don't personally enjoy it all too much, but Joe is very well-versed in most things industrial/black

Fuck you Troy. I am sick of you nailing it on the head EVERYTIME
I tried Samael, I couldn't stand it! Yuck! Maybe I will stay away from this...
To be honest this is quite light on abrasiveness, and black metal. It stems more from BaN's TEOAM/MoRT style combined with Godflesh's mechanical side (but still not as heavy to me; lacks the bludgeoning aspect of Godflesh) so quite industrial oriented with shit loads of droning ambience. At least to me this is a very easy listen, much more than their Tectonics album which is far heavier. This is still quite dissonant and dark which will probably put off most people.
Think Streetcleaner and some droning and long passages of Pure... now make them lighter in terms of heaviness and looooonger. Some of BAN's industrial work as well. I think you might like it.
Review coming soon btw.

As compared to their previous works, this album is more ambient and industrial..... but I'm still confused about where each track ends and starts. Anyway it's a good album
If this sounds anything like Samael I will pass, tell me now!
I know very little Samael but enough to say that this does not sound like it AT ALL. Like it has been said before it's for people who enjoy his/her good industrial a la Blut Aus Nord, Godflesh or similar.

Finally listened to some of this, the last two songs to be exact. I like it. The Godflesh comparisons are inevitable.

Why are you waiting? The review has been published for a couple of days already. Look up.
There are godlfesh influences just as much as Blut Aus Nord influences but P.H.O.B.O.S. manages to use those influences, mold them and come up with a sound that ends up being his own.

Listening to Necromegalopolis of Coprolites, and it sounds like something from the first Diablo game. The muffled atmosphere, and especially the drums... Makes me feel like I'm in the "Caves" level, or in "Hell."
