Ahem..I have been listening to the song "Pictures of You" ridiculously lot lately and since I am quite obsessed with The Cure, although mostly with one song only, I decided to make a thread about them.
Damn, I am listening "Pictures of You " right now and it still sounds SO good. Creates resonance
I finally managed to find enough time and devotion to go through most of Cure's discography.
Too bad you didn't mention Bloodflowers on that list, I would have checked it out a lot sooner. Awesome album, the tittle track is now my favorite by these guys (with "One Hundred Years" being a close second).
I'm officially digging Faith, Pornography, Disintegration, Seventeen Seconds and Bloodflowers. The rest do either very little or nothing at all for me, with Wish being boring as fuck.
Those 5 albums are a pretty good discovery, Bitter, you were helpful as always.
maybe i should check bloodflowers out some time. gave up after the wild mood swings.
Wish is hit or miss. i love some of the more 'tragic' songs on that album. "To Wish...", "Trust" , " Elise", and "Deep Green Sea" i really dig. High i don't mind. "Friday" is fun when i sing along, changing the lyrics to "It's Friday and I'm Drunk..." ... the rest are miss, an "Unstuck" and "Wendy Time" annoy the living crap out of me.
Inconsistent album with a couple strong songs. Better than what followed, which is what drove me away.
I love the album "Bloodflowers". I go back to it a lot. I also watch the Berlin Trilogy DVD quite a lot to watch Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers back to back. It works pretty well.
I still believe their hononymous is along with the best albums of their discography. My favourite album however is Desintegration, followed by Desintegration and The Cure.
Oh, boy what a disappointment 4:13 Dream is. After that opener, I was expecting something quite awesome and Disintegration-ish, but the rest of the album is almost a shittier Wish. Some nice songs scattered here and there, but quite bad overall.
And the self-titled got a bunch of yawns from me too. I guess those five albums I mentioned before are the only Cure albums I'll like from start to finish.
So, it seems The Cure will be playing a festival here in the summer. So, this my be the first time (and last?) I have the chance to see them live.
What are their live setlists like? I remember hearing tracks from Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me are the most prominent ones.
Not sure, haven't checked their setlists lately but I know they usually play many many songs in a show. I hope they play a lot of songs from Kiss Me, I would love that

If you ask me, they had a fantastic idea on that Trilogy Tour. A show like that would be killer, specially if they squeezed in some tracks from Faith.

Trilogy tour was a brilliant idea; I'd like to see more bands performing in this manner, as I'm a very full album oriented version (fuck hit singles.) And man, Faith is my favorite Cure record, so I couldn't agree with you more there.
