I have lot more reasons to hate my parents than to love them.
I think my father is a control freak and sometime when he realizes this he eases off a little bit. But when it comes to making huge decisions he is always dominating.
My mother is an emotional rapist i think. She cries almost all the time and honestly i think she got that from watching too much TV dramas .

While my dad uses force to make me accept his decision, my mother uses fake emotions to get her way. She wants sympathy from everybody and i hate her for being such a low life.

So bottom line, I hate them and i haven't spoken to them for a year and just hope they get their lives together and stop depending on their children and society.

That always happens in old-culture society where there is no individualism. I live in that type of scene so I understand all what children must suffer...best thing I could do is strive to have my own life not having any closed relation with them.

Totally agree with you.. There is a huge generation and cultural gap between parents and their kid

Anyway, I think in time you will grow out of this phase. My parents are very similar to yours(perhaps it's an Indian thing) and I used to hate them once upon a time. My mother still treats me like I'm 12 and my dad is still convinced that I can't do simple household things like changing light bulbs and stuff and would rather do it himself, or with him watching me do it. Personally, I don't really give a shit anymore. In the end, I had a roof over my head, food in my belly, an educated mind and a ton of guidance(even if it was something I disagree with now). I love my parents and always will no matter what. They're the most loving people ever. They just need to stop being so controlling/paranoid.

I can understand your point of view. But i cannot relate to it. For me,my life's biggest decisions were taken by my parents. They pushed me into Engineering, even though i wanted to learn something else ( which i hadn't yet figured out at the time) and you know probably someday they're gonna ask me to marry someone that they think is right for me.

I dont want anyone to be making decisions for me. And i think we should completely ignore our parents and use them as someone who gives us financial aid.

Being a son of a Heavy Metal dad, ofcourse my mom is totally against it. But, now she accepts everything( ever since I stopped going in Metal concerts and doing a International Marketing job). Back then, it was really disturbing. Dad used to participate in mosh-pits and coming in home with heavy bleeding, mom seeing me touching Sabbath CD's., screaming on us when she was pregnant and lot moar. WE even slept on a street benches when my mom use to throw us out of the house. it was complete shit.

When my dearly brother was born, dad came in control and he left the scene for a while which inevitably impressed my mom. Now, my dad pick up some random Metal stuff and listen to it.

Overall, relationship with my parents is good. I respect them immensely and gets full support from them too.

@ the original poster: this all seems to be some issue that should be resolved if you move away from them. that way they won't depend on you and you won't depend on them. Calling the rest of the world's parents just people who give you financial aid is way off the mark. Just because you hate your parents (hatred which will, in time, subside into apathy) does not mean that there are no parents out there who do a good job.

I've grown to tolerate them, and I think much of that has to do with them realizing that I'm getting older, can make good decisions on my own, and am going to go have fun whether they like it or not. "Tolerate" may be a bit of an understatement, seeing as I do have shopping days, walks, and outings with my mom every so often. And I get time with my dad when we drive to the train station every week day. I think part of being able to tolerate them also has to do with trying to spend as less time at home as possible. I've moved back in at home, but I leave early in the morning and am not back from school/work until later in the evening and I don't spend many weekends hanging around at home.

It cannot happen with an average indian teen who listens to bollywood. But for a metalhead like me the possibility is high. I havent met them like in a year or so... i am living with my grandmother for now (which is really pissing me off now), and hope i never see my parents again

Needless to say "I love my parents", but I also like them. I like to hang out and talk with them. I live about 4 kilometres from them with my girlfriend, and we visit frequently, usually weekly. Just now leaving for 4 or 5 days with them, me and my girlfriend at our summer house. I may have had some trouble with them when I was like 13-16 or something, but who wouldn't. Never had any major conflicts about lifestyles, future choices, worldviews or anything like that. Just plenty of small fights with my dad, as we both have a short temper. But that's just how it goes: shout for ten minutes, forget it in twenty.

That being said, I actually enjoy it, coz I have less responsibilities. I know I can take care of myself, but the fact that I have a roof over my head and food without me having to worry about it, is awesome. I haven't really thought of moving out, I'm quite the slacker when it comes to taking care of a house and stuff. So for now I'm quite happy living at home.
My folks are quite chilled out, so its cool. I do get the occasionally talk about being more responsible and stuff, but thats usual. No parent would be happy watching their kid sleep on the streets and being a junkie.
I love my folks, I probably don't say it much, but they are awesome. We do have our arguments occasionally, but who doesn't ?

Well, my mom was against Metal and only Metal. However, she doesn't have any problem if I caught inside a 18 year old girl and ended it up passing a day in jail. Still no fucking problem in that but PHLUZZZ NO METAL. She is a complete Pop freak and do support a Rap scene, so she knows what are the worst consequences of music.

the issue was that she was very protected towards me as I won't become nasty Metalhead and start participating in mosh-pits( TO WHICH SHE WAS VERY SCARED!!) and to which I never participated.
