Which is truly awesome. It means most people got over their musical favs and voted for the artwork they liked best. I wasn't expecting that to be honest.

I still wish "Black Sabbath" had made it this far. It isn't a stunning work of art like the other ones that made it farther, but it is still an absolutely perfect cover.

Awesome! After seeing the full artwork for Masstaden it's a shame that they are not here, but my favourite (Les Discrets) is still here and picked the other two also even though I liked Masstaden and Leviathan over them.

Glad that the finalists are these not so well known (except for Alcest maybe) bands. I believe what did the job was that we had to give positive and negative votes, that was really clever by whoever came up with it.
If the metal storm awards had something similar, I believe the winners wouldn't always be the bigger bands if they don't really deserve it.

Aw, the one with the haunted cabin is out. Probably have to go with the French-looking one (not Alcest, the other one).
Still think Slania is better, though.

Using the full Dwellings artwork really isn't fair. It should be just what appears on the album cover :/

I gotta go with Alcest personally. Beautiful artwork which perfectly represents the emotions of the music.

What appears on the cover is not the artwork. This is the artwork, and it's not an extended version. It's just folded in the physical CD case.

If we were to get all technical about 'album art', shouldn't we then also be considering the inside of the case, artwork on the cd, artwork behind the cd etc?

Well, this is about front artwork. I know you don't agree with Dwellings' full artwork being used as default, and I understand that. You may be right. I admit I am overly enthusiastic about this particular artwork.

So yes, you vote for that square you see on the front of the CD case, but you can't just ignore the full thing.

Agreed, I think that album cover sums up the atmosphere of heavy metal very nicely.
