Anyway, trying to download some now, hope it works and I remember to post an opinion here.

I obviously forgot. Actually, I even forgot downloading. Anyway, I downloaded "The Girl Who Was... Death" yesterday and listened to it twice in a row today.

And I am utterly, utterly dissapointed. Seriously, what the hell are you talking about? The album bored me to death, lasted half an hour shorter than expected (which is a good thing, in the end) and is just.. rubbish? I completely fail to see the point of this band.

Yeah, I do expect to get flamed right now. It appears there are some people stark raving mad about this band. So is TGWWD his worst album, or his all of his stuff like this?

That is strange actually. And "The Girl Who Was...Death" could be his best album IMO. But if you didn't like it, then I don't think you would like the other albums.

It could be his best album... that's true.
But I think that the other album do have a different sound. Like Eliogabalus being more molodic and Sacrilegium more depressive.

But that's just me.

Yeah, there's some differences. But if his first album "bored him to death" I fail to see how he would like the others.

sounds interesting though, i might check his albums out.

If you like The girl who was death... It's almost sure that you will like the other albums as well.
When it comes to vocals "The girl..." is indeed the best one. Showing one of the most insane vocal work I'd ever heard in my life and incredible violins that sounds more brutal than any guitarr [the whole 9 minute mark]

wow you guys are rabid i'll check him out, not now though, but it's bad, most of the time i don't have enough time/attention span to listen to a whole album, especially while at the computer, eventually i'll do something that will take my attention from the album, so that's why i prefer listening to certain tracks.

1987- Slavonic Folk Music

I think that's how Devil Doll should be tagged here and believe me I tried when I added them here. But apparently that did not fit MS, so instead we got Progressive Folk Rock which makes it sound like the "Folk" part is one of the major parts of the sound. Which IMO it is not.

Well, IMO the enitre discography is mediocre at best. Just because it is off-the-wall and quite progressive doesn't make it good for me.. Same goes for a lot of Dream theater albums btw, where they are just wanking their instruments for the sake of it devoid of any emotion.

Mediocre is such a big [and kinda overused] word to call a band like this one... Considering that there are way more bands which are way worse than Devil Doll than the ones which are way better... This is still just my own opinion though.

I agree with the DT part... I somehow hate that band since it's so boooooooooring. I think that I dislike almost every prog band. Because they are emotionless to me. Some bands (like Devil Doll) might be the exception of the rule for me since there are influences from other genres that I do like.

Well, Your opinion about this band is far from being similar to mine. But I understand it and don't need to insult you for that hehehe

actually I think Devil Doll is one of the few exceptions of prog that I like, together With Devin Townsend but I call Devil Doll - Devil Doll since it is almost impossible to put them in a genre.

I heard a couple of Devil Doll's album, one was Dies Irae and the other I can't remember. Both terrible, bad attempt at theatrical horror music from 2 centuries ago. He just tries to be so okvlt and krieg he forgets how to make proper music.

Meh... It's not like it's a matter of "you're fucking blind and shit! because it sucks!!!".
I really understand why people HATE this dude. I just happen to disagree totally.
