I would have died with a fucking smile on my face if this fantastic and completely unexpected album was the soundtrack to my 12/21/12 apocalypse.

From what I've listened too, it reminds of Krallice. Gonna dig it more.

Very, very similar to Mirrorthrone. But I can't say no to more Mirrorthrone!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ihsahn on this thread. The vocals and some parts of the music really remind me of some of his solo stuff.

I'm getting a distant Mirrorthrone vibe from this. I'm digging what I am hearing.

I don't usually listen to a lot of black metal but this was a bombshell. By successfully utilizing a variety of sonic textures and a mature understanding of composition overall, Xanthrochroid have given us a real gem. This is, indeed, the start of something special.

It is certainly not bad, but is nowhere near Ne Obliviscaris's debut. They don't have enough passion for it - yet. Some songs are very good though, might enough to consider a 9.

Rarely I see a staff picked album sounding so hollow ... it seems they know how to write music but there's no feeling in this album . this is the opposite of what it should have been ...

I honestly thought it was Ihsahn singing at first. Pretty nice debut. Need to listen some more to it before rating.

Okey, so 1 word is enough. Pretentious.

Own this album now, and it got even better when listening to the actual CD, while reading upon the lyrics and looking at the album artwork.. I went to rate this from a 9 to 10, this is a masterpiece!

I think this is better than Ne Oblviscaris' album (actually that one's still better now), if only I listened to this soon enough, it would have appeared on my top 20 of 2012, if that were the case. Oh well, I'm seeing them live at least. Orange County represent!!

I rarely rate an album 10 but this album is probably the best I've heard in a long time, really close to perfection. I can't fathom how one may find it "pretentious" or rate it below 8. Oh well, opinions I guess...

8.5/10 leaning towards an 8 for me.
Not as well structured as their next album, but still a dynamic and thrilling listen!

Pure greatness. The black metal parts flow perfectly between the orchestrations and choirs, and I appreciate the epicness without being too bombastic. Every melody is unique and memorable on it's own and stick to the brain for days. Even the acoustic interludes are awesome. There is great balance between different ideas and resources.
