Okay, concerning the album 'Elvenfris' I don't think I've EVER come across such a unanimously praised album in my life. On Metal Archives (not the most reliable source I know ) it received 97% overall from 11 people, most of which gave it 100%. Other webzines seem to testify to this. I've had the album for a while but this is my first time through listening to it and I can safetly say it's sounding pretty good so far.

Technical death/grind with atmospheric progressive passages. The clean vocals sound like later Tiamat. 'Tis some very original stuff.

Anyway, I don't know anything about this, I'm intrigued as to what you guys have to say.

I did a bit of poking around on Czech sites and I found out that the band finished writing 90% of the material for a new album which is expected to be recorded and released later this year

They (he) said the same thing in 2006 lol

Do you have a date when that message was written?

A new album might be on the way... check the message by 'Tomas Corn' a couple of posts down on the Derek Roddy board.

I'm not getting my hopes up as it might be a sick joke, but hey, what if it really happens?

I think he is serious. And for some reason I am eager to hear their new offering. Elvenefris was so complex that I didn't really get into it, but I will try soon.

Ehhh I don't want to sound too negative, but I don't really care anymore. Elvinfris is good, but not THAT good. Plus, with practically an entirely different lineup and almost ten years later, I'm not expecting anything extraordinary.

Got Mayhem?

Big Bump.

I love this band.It takes a lot for a band so short lived to make such a big impact with just a single album. Unanimous praise is almost an understatement. Everywhere you go this band is praised, and for good reason too. The riffing is like None So Vile on crack mixed with a bit of Karl Sanders. The drumming sounds like Flo Mounier with a shot of adrenaline. It just has to be heard to be understood, with a second listen right afterwards because the first listen will just be a blur.

I really hope that this new album materializes in the not-too-distant future, but I'm doubting that it'll ever see the light of day no matter what the band says. Oh well, they gave two albums of very high quality, if you count the Appalling Spawn album as being one in the same.

Yeah I'm not holding my breath (anymore). Even if it does materialise sod's law it'll probably be some kind of proggy wank-fest of a comeback like the Cynic album.

Sang Dalang Abu

Now on MA it received 96% overall from 21 people.

I'm not huge fan of brutal death metal. But actually that genre is more famous than other genres in my country.

But for this one I give it high rate.
U can check some progressive music sites and you will know why this such album has high rate.

Its kind of sad that there is nothing in death metal like Elvenefris. Somehow nothing sounds good enough anymore.

Your username tells me that you like this band But nah, they are never in the same league as Lykathea, they are a fun band and all, but apart from that, Lykathea beats them on all fronts, especially creatively. My favourite ! T.O.O.H.! album is Pod Vladou Bice anyway. Has more balls than Rad a Trest and the production is a lot better. The production on Rad a Trest just doesnt sound punchy enough to my ears

I actually find !T.O.O.H.! more unique tbh. Hell, people can't even decide if they're death or grind or what. Pod Vladou Bice is great, and different enough to not really even need be compared to Rad a Trest I find. They're amazing in individual ways.

True, but people have the same problems in deciding which genre Lykathea actually are. I would simply call them avantgarde death, but a lot of people call them progressive death or even brutal death. They have brutal death moments in their music but calling them brutal death alone wouldnt be enough I find. As for! T.O.O.H.!, I would call them progressive grind or something, but its hard to decide indeed

I wouldnt necessairily say that! T.O.O.H.! are more unique though. Both sound just as unique to me, just in different ways.

Yeah, I referred to Lyakthe as grind in my post from another aeon ago, but now I know more about what I'm hearing I would never call them grind. They definitely have a brutal death strain running through them. I think structurally they probably aren't that unusual, and that's it's more the strange upbeat melodies in combination with brutal and maybe tech-death leanings that make them sound unique. The drumming is fairly individualistic though and definitely adds to their uniqueness.

Love both, but I would give TOOH extra credit for making the music that is best described as pink floyed playing grindcore. As contradictory as it seems, it really fits them.

I read that somewhere else too I think, but I honestly dont hear it. I hear much Pink Floyd in Enslaved for example, but the atmosphere in! T.O.O.H.! doesnt remind me of Pink Floyd.
