There's something really weird happening to me. Despite enjoying metal to the fullest a few months back, I feel I've lost the love of it. For example, I haven't listened to a new album in a month or two. Recently, even my favorite tracks fail to please me. I would play some of my favorite stuff and two minutes later I would just put it off and really get bored of it. I still love music, but I simply don't feel like listening at all. Is this normal? Has this phase ended? Or is it something else? If there are any specific things that can reignite my interest in the music, I would be very grateful if you share them with me.

Wanna enjoy music again? Stop fucking trying... Don't listen to anything for a while. If you get the feeling of wanting to listen to music again, there you go.
If not, well, too bad... Either you just keep waiting or it never meant so much to begin with. Just don't listen to music if you deep inside feel bored by it so soon. Wait for it to happen.

And just in case Bad English didn't say it enough times: You are friggin 16.

Dude relax, learn how to enjoy life and the rest will come. Music is a mean of life itself. Don't sweat about it....If you don't enjoy the music you used to listen to then listen to something else, simple as that....

Also, don't worry... If you don't come back to metal, it'll be because you didn't feel the need/love/whatever anymore, and that's fine. If you do come back to metal, it'll be because it's still a part of you, and that's fine too Just don't stress about it one way or aother, right?

Thrash or Death

Music is not an achievement. You don't need to enjoy it.

However, I would suggest looking into other genres openly. You don't need to go on a thorough investigation campaign, but just open your ears to the possibility that other genres and even mainstream music can have value. You might discover new worlds you never knew about. Or not.

I was thinking the exact same thing

You could always try to open your mind, and discover other types of metal. Like me, I got bored of power metal, so melodic death metal would do it to me. Explore; there are so many friggin good bands out there. Don't just hold on at "your" bands, go out there and find the hidden gems.

I think that music will come along with you sometime, you don't need to try to enjoy it, just let the music flow, eventually you'll find something that will revive the flame. Or maybe you could try with something besides Black metal, there's a lot to explore so do not hesitate to do it.
Then again, enjoyable music comes when you lest expect it.

Don't feel committed to a certain genre of music. It's really easy. Go check some other genres or don't listen to music at all if you want to. The fact is that no one cares. I can be listening to My Bloody Valentine then Bonnie Prince Billy then Bach then P. H. O. B. O. S. and so on. You can also read a book, jerk off, read poetry, play videogames, find some other activities.
