or bother to check all the autobiographies by the band members or old inetrviews with them from that time. The upside down cross they used was thought up by someone from outside the band and the band actually wasn't happy with it at all because of their beliefs.

They all used to wear crosses (right way up) too, on stage. The satan stuff didn't really start until the Tony Martin Era.

I'd HONESTLY be interested in hearing your reactions after I make my points. I think there is more to this than "it sounds like metal, therefor it's metal". Regardless, metal fans should shun christian metal and secular metal bands should refused to take christian metal bands on tour with them. Christianity nearly destroyed Judas Priest and went balls-out to destroy Deicide... for that alone they should be shunned before they destroy everything else.

Just finished a debate I had with Steve from the Faster for the Master show on nocontrolradio.com and I'm still fairly confident it's a fraudulent mimicry of metal attempting to destroy us like a trojan horse. In fact, I'm more confident I'm right now than when I was preparing for the debate.

Good Friday approacheth. What do you think? Do you actually LIKE any of it? Shouldn't we be hostile to it and shun it?

Heh, opinionated fellow. I like your invention of "secular metal" As if religion is all that much of an integral feature of the music the bands in question produce. Beyond the surface lyricism and thematic content I don't think faith has any detracting quality or would prevent definition of a particular sound as "metal." For example you can't tell me the music of bands like Mortification isn't Death Metal based on the religious inclinations of those who create it.

Perhaps on ideological terms it has an impact but otherwise the "Christianity" in metal has very little role to play in the actual sound. It may be made to produce particular emotional responses or feelings in its target audience but the metal element of these bands isn't negated as a result.

I have reserved feelings about being a guest on your show. While I have no issues talking to anyone who is curious about my faith, spiritual disciplines, my band and our upcoming album, or my history in ministry, I don't do debates or engage in arguments. The reason why I am hesitant to be on your show is because you have all the editing power. You have already displayed your dislike for Christianity and I feel that you very well could edit whatever I say to make me look bad. Also, and please correct me if I am wrong, I have a feeling that you'd be more interested in belittling me than actually engaging me in open and honest communication. Being a radio DJ for several years I know how easy it is to take soundbites and manipulate them however you want. So I hope you can see why I am not overly excited about the idea of being on a show that can easily be edited by someone who is venomous towards me.

Is this guy (Godless, not Dane) serious or he is just trying real hard for the troll of the century award?

For the record, I do think that organized religion is generally, a very bad thing. Especially when it comes to the 3 main abrahamic religions. However, I also think that Nazi-ism is a very bad thing, but that doesn't make me deny that NSBM bands are metal. I can't say that a band "isn't metal" just because I don't agree with their ideology and views. Lyrical content has no bearing at all on what musical genre a band is playing. Music alone, is the defining factor in that. Take say, a band like Believer for example. Give a listen to their first 2 albums, and tell me what genre they should come under in your opinion, if they aren't metal albums...

What's NCR? A radio station?

Megadeth is actually a very good case in point. To me, albums like Peace Sells, and Rust In Peace will always be classic albums. It's not like I'd stop listening to them just because I strongly disagree with a lot of Dave Mustaine's views and beliefs. And if a small miracle happened, and Megadeth actually made a great album again, I'd be over the moon. And I think the first two Believer albums are fantastic, even though I don't share that band's religion.

I am sure we could make a massive list of big name metal bands that have Christian members. Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Slayer, Dream Thearer, Type O Negative, Korn, Symphony X, Within Temptation, Killswitch Engage, King's X and Virgin Black all have (or had in the case of Peter Steele) Christian members in their band. I am sure if we sent time we could create an even larger list.

I forgot about that one! Rapid Tears, now that is a name I have not heard in a long time.

I still think the craziest story is Roger Martinez. The guitar player in our band knew Roger Martinez back when he was cool.

...And those aren't even the bands that actually label themselves as Christian metal.

So its totally okay to blacklist bands that have Christian members/ideas from the music scene.

You know what we should get rid of all of the gays in the metal scene too because homesexuality is so unmetal. They are trying to destroy our scene from within like Trojan Horses. Metal is supposed to be only for tough, church burning, battle-axe yielding MEN.

Oh since we are at it we should also blacklist all of the bands that have female members. Because you know women are so un-metal, and they tried to destroy Black Sabbath. For this reason alone they should be excluded before they destroy anything else.

We should also not forget about blacklisting non-whites too. Because you know Heavy Metal is white music, and these minorities want to destroy us. Look at what they did to Sepultura, Derick turned a perfectly fine Metal band into pop/mainstream shit. Black people want to destroy us!

We should all jump on our Harleys and blast our favorite Immortal/Manowar battle hymn while we go on a crusade against all of the poser who want to destroy Heavy Metal. Hail and kill!!! Long live true kvlt Metal!!!

If it is just a shameless attempt at promoting the show I guarantee you they are failing miserably because after this level of asinine non-sense they are only doing 2 things: 1) turning people off of their show while making themselves look like ignorant assholes and 2) continuing to propagate the stigma that metal heads are a bunch of narrow-minded and idiotic heathens.

There's a huge difference between shameless self promotion and going down to the local hardware store, buying a length of rope, going home, finding a good size tree with a high and sturdy enough branch, tying off the rope to the big sturdy branch, tying the other end into a noose, fitting the noose around his neck, then jumping head first off the branch.

Please do explain to all of us how Christian metal is an oxymoron just because the lyrics are about God?

Also you have neglected to comment how you feel about Jewish, Islamic and Asatruist metal which are also forms of metal with religious lyrics praising deities. Are these forms of metal also oxymoronic and an affront to metal? And if so, why exactly are they also oxymoronic?

And when you get done explaining why all of these metals are oxymoronic we're going to need you to cite the exact chapters and paragraphs in the non-existent Metal Bible which specifically states that metal with religious lyrics are an oxymoron and an affront to all things metal.
