Hey guys, im newer to the forums then most, so lay off a little, but anyway, I have really bad ADD and its affecting many things in my life at the moment, I feel unbelievably disorganised and it is damaging social and academic life, I have been seeing specialists and the like throughout the years but they've lessened the problem only slightly. to get to the point, whenever I sit down to practise guitar I always wander off or get tired quickly, there is nothing wrong with my songwriting and lyrical ability but I feel on guitar im finding it very difficult to sit down for a given amount of time and focus on my chord inversions or my modes, or focus on getting my picking and fretting hands tighter, I usually wander off and start working on a literal library of riffs and songs that I cant complete and it is beginning to really frustrate me,

so im just asking, do any of you have some advice to overcome this and to really start practising with my mind and not my fingers ? if you did I would be forever in your gratitude, thanks guys

I know nothing about ADD but if you seem to obsess about riffs while practicing, have you tried replacing that focus on scales or that sort? Also, there's really nothing wrong at all with practicing riffs. We all have our traits that make us different so to speak, it could actually be a good thing if you end up knowing many riffs

If scales get too boring for you, try playing them or doesn't matter, try improvising stuff on a drum track. If you have GP5 I can send you a 'metal' drum track (just PM me). You can wander off for hours creating your own stuff and practice making it sound tighter at the same time.

Just play your favorite stuff over and over again...in time you will overcome this "wandering off" problem...i had similar problem when i first started playing aand i did this and overcome it..also i was never learning guitar tech, spec, stuff, or music theory...just played my own thing and felt good...
