Imagine you're and old and deaf man. You once listened to music a lot, even composed it sometimes. On a hot summer night your dreams become weirder than ever, full of new unseen fantasies but cruel nevertheless. Was it a nightmare or a vision? And most of all... what is this shit all about? Well, mainly my thoughts on the new Fleshgod Apocalypse album seen from Beethoven's point of view, 200 years ago. Labyrinth indeed is not easily divided into its brutal and symphonic parts, it all makes it up to the one thing it has become. And that is already the first fact making it a better album than their previous record, Agony. The whole concept grew and the individual parts fit better together.

My guess is that it will not be untechnical metal.

I do not disagree

What's this talk about them being brutal. That's one thing they've never been. Technical yes, Brutal no.

-1 for those annoying "scream like a woman" vocals (totally out of place-damn I just can't stand such Power Metal vocals anyway) and -1 for too sterile computerized production, especially drums production...that aside, this is quiet interesting album with some nice songs. just love how intensely aggressive are some parts and also love the orchestral side. reminds me in some places of mighty Anorexia Nervosa which is a big plus...what a band that was. damn you RMS Hreidmarr, if you're not anymore in BM and such stuff, at least you can do vocals in studio for your friends from ex band and all fans around the globe. new Anorexia Nervosa, that would be a blast :sigh:

I still can't understand why everyone are so annoyed by screams, because I found them fitting the music perfectly. It gives cadaverish atmosphere.
Nevertheess this album is an example of symphonic metal!

Just spectacular!!! is like Mozart + The Devil. I really recommend everyone to hear it, it's dark and symphonic, musically well structured and planned. Really a Masterpiece!!

Technical Death with orchestra, piano, the choirs, the soprano, the tenor and scream, the sound effects... simply breath-taking and unique!

First play-through, very good, but wasn't like a massive shotgun blow to the face like Agony was. Definitely sounds like it will grow on me the more I listen though. 8, 8.5/10.

So, has anyone else taken a look at the credits for the orchestra in the album booklet? It's pretty goddamn ridiculous, actually... it actually credits Rob Halford as part of the choir and Steve Harris on the double bass, as an example. (there's a LOT more than just that, believe me)

Its just a wall of noise. you can barely hear the guitars its just triggered blast beat after triggered blast beat with some atmospheric keyboard and some growling over top. this just doesnt do it for me, but hey if it does for you good on ya!

Not their best; Not their worst. I was hoping for a sound more similar to their older stuff than newer, but as many have said before me, it sounds like Agony but more refined (in a good way). I'd personally rate it an 8.5/10.

A lot of great releases this year, so there is some competition. But this is definitely somewhere between 1st-3rd of best releases so far this year.

Such a great album eh?, It is something completely new to me. I have heard some extreme bands trying to involve Orchesta atmosphere on their songs, but this, Labyrinth is something diferent; is like, the top. And it opens a new door in extreme music.

But there's something I did not like (maybe playing it a few times more I will get used to) the grount needs something.
