Hello everyone !

Recently I bought a documentary named 'Heavy Metal, Louder than life'. It is a 2 disc set, with footage of interviews, A metal timeline, etc etc.
It contains also footage of something called 'Confessions of a headbanger'. I watched this and while I was watching, I was completely surprised.


This guy told that he loved metal, but when metal became more 'cool' he began to feel ashamed of liking metal and being a metalhead. So he hides his bandshirts under his sweater, If anyone sees him walking inside a building with a metalconcert, he would say it was a mistake. Some of his opinions were : 'Girls don't belong in metal' & 'Orchestra and keyboards don't belong in metal' 'You really have to have long hair or extremely short, there is nothing inbetween it' ''Metal cannot develop, if it does, it isn't metal anymore' 'Acoustic guitars and ballads are a sin ' 'Motörhead is a mixture between metal and punk' 'Metallica worked with an Orchestra, this is unforgivable'


Sadly, I coundn't find the fragment of the dvd on YouTube.
Well, I would like to hear your opinion on his opinions, as I find some of his opinions a little bit weird.

So, what do you think about it ?

Just an other guy who lives in his own world what things should be and should be not and once that gets challenged he turns tail and hides behind weak lame nonsensical arguments.

He contradicts himself. If keyboards aren't metal, then Motorhead aren't metal, cause they've used pianos (as well as saxophones and cellos) in the past. And acoustic guitars, too.

Same here. That's often the dudes who aren't really there for the band, they're there because they think "oh, an opportunity to fight and act like an asshole".

I think they chose the stupidest metalhead they could find just so they could make their documentary more interesting and sell more copies.

HAHAHA ... wow. This is funny. Well for the Motorhead thing, its true though... I mean there's clearly some punk in there at some point.
But yeah ... (Hiding your shirts) or (No girls in Metal) or (No acoustic) wtf... so basically for him music should stagnate and be for men exclusively? I don't know who he is, but I don't like him. Is he some kind of facist-skinhead-anti-feminist-misanthropic-douche bag? If its the case uh, chemical castration much.

I've been thinking about this, would any metal bands count as metal by this loony's ideas? I can't think of any that don't do one of his notmetalisms.

Yeah, I also saw this just a few days ago. At first I thought he was joking or had really terrible things happened to him(thought I it was thanks for not showing his face in the video), but after a while I realised he was just one of those people who makes up their own "special" kind of version of metal, thinking of himself being the only true metalhead in the world. A pity it is.

If its not from Norway in the 90's it's not metal, an I won't listen to it.

yeah, I do tend to dislike those bands too. I mean, their music could be good, but I can't stand to watch video clips then, when they show only the front woman and not the whole band. I mean, a band is more than just a vocalist:P
