I've listened to it a few times now. It's very good, but I haven't found any "chorus of heartwork"-hooks yet.

"The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills" is by far the hookiest song on the album, at least to my ears. It's immensely catchy!

I'm still not sure where the grindcore fits in.

Some of this stuff is really catchy, wow. Needs more spins though. Why can't they play in Portugal? PLEASE. This reminds me of years ago when I used to listen to Necroticism in my car. Good times...

I'm still not sure where the grindcore fits in.

There are elements of grind on the album, but for the most part the album sits somewhere between "Necroticism" and "Heartwork". It's not as harsh or as imaginative as the former, but it is more expansive, dynamic, and generally harsher than the latter. Jeff said that the grind parts of the album would go over most people's heads, because of the production, and I think he is right. For example, with a rawer, harsher production, the grindcore in songs like "Thrasher's Abbatoir", and "The Master Butcher's Apron", would be more pronounced, and obvious.

Great album, not better than Necroticism or Heartwork but better than Swansong; this band still kicks ass... I hope they release one or two more albums in the future.

I've never been a massive fan of Carcass, so to me this is another good album by them. But i'd imagine a die-hard fan would be pleased enough.
