I think the only so called hipster bm i know of is "wolves in the throne room", not that i actually think that they are very hipster (if ya knew the guys i knew ). I actually think that label gets thrown around pretty loosely these days.

Anyway i seem to like the sound if i could get a few recommendations

Is deafheaven really mainstream ? I know there popular but "mainstream"...same with the genre

...will have to check Solefald

No, they aren't mainstream, but they've been exposed to the mainstream as in mainstream music blogs have covered them due to their critical acclaim, and are modestly popular among both hipsters and metalheads.

T-shirts are a big indicator of what people listen to. People usually wear t-shirts of their favourite bands.

At least 75% of metalheads I've known in "real" life didn't listen to anything more underground than stuff ala Metallica, Pantera, DevilDriver, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive etc and in the most extreme Cradle of Filth and Black Dahlia Murder.

The other 25% were a menagerie of various underground styles and creeds.

The underground metal crowd is a small component of the overall metal market - at least here in Australia.

All the people I know who where band t-shirts sport more popular bands on their t-shirts than their actual favorites. For example, while my friend has t-shirt for Death, Deicide, and Nile, she also has t-shirts for Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Slipknot, and Evanescence even though she's mainly a fan of underground death metal bands, and while she prefers old-school In Flames her In Flames t-shirt sports the bird from Sounds of a Playground Fading. The fact is it's easier to get a hold of mainstream band t-shirts, and people are more likely to recognize the band. They often have better artwork as well.

hmm, sounds more logical than them definitely being mainstream because they're playing at some popular fest in Sweden as mr Doctor said.
As for over here they might as well be underground.

I looked at that festival, and it looks like they have a bunch of really obscure indie bands, as well as some really popular bands. Aside from maybe Wolfmother, they are the only metal I recognized, but I think they are more inline than Wolfmother and bands like Refused. If Refused can play, I don't see why Deafheaven cannot.
