New record from Kayo Dot guys. Love how they exploit disjointed orchestral sounds:

that album is actually older than coffins it seems ;p
Why you are complaining? Both albums are fantastic (actually haven't given this one a comprehensive listen yet).
Also, you might want to check the metal recs 2014 page.

New release by Les Neiges Noires De Laponie.

First impression was like Pryapisme playing breakcore. Neat stuff.

Here's some random hip-hop influenced electronic/rap/experimental shit. Chill stuff, emotional stuff, and fun stuff.

Hopefully, this will not sound pretentious but I've been loving these factory noises for a few years now.

I struggle enough just to get through listening to all the metal albums I want in a year so my ventures into non-metal music are unfortunately very limited. However, I did stumble across the solo album by Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery, The Ghosts of Pripyat, today and decided to check it out. I don't know if it sounds anything like Marillion but if it does maybe I should delve into their back catalogue because it's an absolutely stunning piece of soft instrumental prog rock, full of beautiful melodies and atmospheric guitar leads. Serious instant contender for my AOTY.

This caught my attention. Darkly ambient with some hints of jazz.

Just found this which made me realize I barely checked out any non-metal stuff last year.

Glad you liked it. I'm hoping to come across a wider variety of genres this year. Last year was mostly metal and I might be getting a bit sick of it soon.
Btw, I actually had to go back to that comment, because apparently the image linking thing only works if the link is "http" and not "https" but my browser automatically puts "https"

Your link sounds pretty decent, but not what I'm in the mood for at the moment.

I was impressed by Simple Minds' last album entitled Big Music. Loved it, great songwriting, smart, catchy, a very enjoyable listen.

I Haven't listened to that one yet, I'm so afraid of being disappointed. Is it like Graffiti Soul? Because I loved that one.

yes, it's a little bit like the previous one, but more synth-oriented.

Distorted, raw and dirty death rock influences are surely stong with this one. Me likes!

You think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it. Molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was a man. But it was nothing to me but blinding.

Dark Phoenix
Carpenter Brut - EP III
is out today. There are some twists I did not expect, but that's why I love his music. Smoothly upgrading his signature sound into new speheres. Well done Brut, well done.

For those of you unaware of this man, this is retrowave, so if you're not inrerested into heavy synth 80s sound, don't bother.

Pink Floyd - The Endless River - better than I expected, this album is like an homage to Richard Wright, goes to show how much he is missed, especially by Gilmour, obviously. Apparently, this album is based on some of Richard's ideas not used on Division Bell and some demos of his, worked by Gilmour. Beautiful music I say.

I know there are a lot of people around here that enjoy folk music. The Gloaming blend celtic folk with the kind of melancholy and at times eerie atmosphere that should appeal to several of you. Definitely one of the biggest standouts of 2014 for me.

Good recommendation.

But, why in Non-Metal? You could have post in Metal Rec 2014.

Actually the only suitable people to recommend you non-metal stuff are the ones who listen to metal.
All the other ones will probably classify "non-metal" in other ways =p
