Thrashless might have missed the popular thrash revival bandwagon as it sped popularly by in the past several years, but leaving it all at that would be to miss the general point of the popular thrash revival you know. Namely, popular thrash had been revived, so the point was that thrash had never died, it just wasn't very popular. That is to say that "popular" thrash just wasn't a very popular genre for a couple decades, and so on.

Thrashless is a thrash band that makes this kind of traditional, Bay Area-esque thrash. That style was popular for a few years and maybe still is popular, who knows, but let's say that if it is still popular, it isn't so hip anymore, if it ever was. They do said popular thrash style stuff well though. This consists mostly of hero-worshipping and riff-highlighting - originality isn't going to be the draw of this album - but that isn't a bad thing when it comes to what they do. They do it well. Really well sometimes and not so really well at others, but the times that they do it really well seem to outnumber the times they do it not so really well. Which is good.

It's generic stuff ultimately though, but generic in a good way I think. That seems to be what these guys are going for, though. The point of it all is to shut up and switch off the "meh" part of your brain, which can be done by banging said organ repeatedly and hard inside your cranium. Which is exactly what this reviewer here has been doing since he got a copy of Cult Of Fear. It's good thrash, maybe not very good, but good. A good thrash revival album to bang your brain around in your skull to indeed.
