Gojira - Enter The Studio

Gojira have entered the studio Silver Cord based in New York. Designed and owned by guitarist/vocalist Joe Duplantier of Gojira, the studio will serve as the band's headquarters for the next couple of months as they produce their 6th studio album. Their last effort, L'Enfant Sauvage, came out in 2012 already. Now it's time to work on the next offering.

Silver Cord will be available to other artists/bands/producers starting June 6th, 2015. So, probably the new album will be finished by then.

I'm half-expecting to get my heart broken again.

Think about Mastodon: they delivered after the "meh" The Hunter

In any case, I still really enjoyed L'Enfant Not-So-Sauvage so I'll be looking forward to this one regardless

That's true love right there I always expecting something good from Gojira even if it isn't mind-blowing.

You mean they delivered "meh" after Crack the Skye? Because that's what Gojira have been doing after From Mars to Sirius.

Not quite - I was saying that many viewed OMRtS as a return to form after The Hunter and that Gojira could pull off the same after releasing the seemingly lackluster L'Enfant Sauvage. Personally I think that TWoAF was a sick release despite the fact that it didn't live up to FMtS.

Ah. Right. I seems my eyes add punctuation where there is none
Still my hope for a return of Gojira to old form is pretty much down to zero now. It seems they are just interested in a different kind of music these days.

That's a shame - while I definitely prefer Gojira's first four albums stylistically, their latest release is still an enjoyable listen for me. I guess I'm easy to please when it comes to melody and groove

Whatever.. the last album was solid IMO so for it to say it 'broke your heart' is a bit excessive, don't ya think?

Not at all. After the release of L'Enfant Pas Du Tout Sauvage, I had to go through months of therapy. You're not a fan of figures of speech are you?

Mastodon have always struck me as a band that had no problem finding new ways to reinvent their music. That's why I love half their discog and dislike the rest. But Gojira to me just kept watering down what made them famous.

Makes sense - fair enough I still think Gojira can make a come-back. A band with that much talent must realise the lost potential after some point...I hope

Good idea As for me, Gojira have yet to disappoint significantly since, as I've admitted several times, I'm a sucker for groove and melody when done right. At least they still have the knack for those things

Not when they're used in such exaggerated manners. However, you're entitled to your opinion and I respect that. Hopefully we both enjoy their latest effort, eh?

Quality predictions aside, that studio is fucking wicked. Maybe even inspirational? Just thinking it could be an energizing environment for the band's creativity s'all.
