It's obvious in this web page we are brought toghether by one music genre, but what about the rest?
I wanted to know which are your other favorite musical genres out side metal (if you have any), and if you may want to comment why.
I didn't create a poll so it could be more open, besides I wouldn't be able to fill all the possible genres, so...
Ok, so, just feel free to discuss this and tell what you think

BTW I never listened to any music that isn't metal.
Generalizing won't get you very far in a community like this.
And that's too bad. There's plenty of good music outside of the metal realm.

Well i actully enjoy almost all genres of music fx. rap(malk de koijn, puplic enemy), rock( led zeppelin, queen, arctic monkeys), pop(justin timberlake, norah jones), electronic(portishead, dubstep), funk/jazz and i can also listen to some classical music from time to time
Strangely, before I started exploring the metal genre I listened almost exclusively to minimal, ambient and abstract electronic music (Autechre, Susumu Yokota, Murcof, Nobukazu Takemura, etc) But I haven't been listening to this stuff since over a year now, I'm just too busy discovering metal genres and bands.
Electronica, everything from Kraftwerk to Skrillex.
And as to why... It coincides with why I listen to Metal. Metal is more interesting than other genres, to me. There's more instrumentation involved, broader vocal use, etc. Other genres that do the same just aren't that appealing.
Though, I believe that any type of genre that falls under Electronica (Trance, House, Dub Step, etc.) are equally as technical as Metal. Granted, a lot of it is rather repetitive, but there is something to say about the level of production that goes into Electronica. Plus, the live performances are interesting to witness. Seeing as someone can produce so much interesting sound with just a keyboard, a synthesizer, and some midi boxes.
Pretty gnarly.
Oh, yes, and classical. Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. With a few smatterings of others here and there.

I really enjoy 90s hip-hop and gangsta rap.
That's what I liked before I started liking metal actually.

Heavy metal is the 666th element in the periodic table of mixology.
Heavy metal is the heaviest of the metals, even heavier than rock.
Here are the isotopes: Iron Maidenium - Panterium - King Diamondium - Hendrixium -
Megadethium - Sabbathium
Even if metal must be over 95% of the stuff I listen, I always liked some classical like Músorgski, Verdi and Bach...
Apart that I'm getting more and more interested in Ambient / Noise and anything that's fucked up like Stalaggh and Abruptum (newer and old, even if it has some BM touch).
Probably progressive rock. I adore Canterbury scene bands like Caravan and Soft Machine, but I would say Gentle Giant are a personal favourite [Octopus includes some of the most skilled music I have ever heard] I like rock and roll too, I listen to Link Wray a crazy amount.

I'm quite a fan of Classic Rock such as Boston, ZZ Top, Billy Squier and Ted Nugent.
Believe it or not, I'm also a fan of the Oldies. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Ink Spots. Guess I've been playing too much Fallout.
