the point is that people are too quick to dismiss the album based on other people's opinions, rather than listening to it properly...

That may be true in some cases, but I listened to it proper and fucking hate it.

"Killer Cult" isn't exactly Wordsworth either though is it.

It's not Coleridge either, but on the scale of stupidity, it's somewhere on a par with 95% of metal lyrics, while "kill a cop" is an outright criminal offense

Did not look at any reviews before I listened to the album and it sounded like kill a cop. And I can really admit I heard it just because of my negative view on the album. Though, I am not that sad or anything. As I sed, I liked 2 or 3 of the songs and I actually think they will make a better album next time (if there is). Even though they may not admit it, they are going to be affected by the bad opinions.

Trying to do something different is fine, but even for industrial/hard rock tracks, stuff like Too Extreme and Radikult is pretty poor. Interesting how Destructhor seems to have had a lot of creative input into the more extreme tracks on the album. Sad then that he is playing on this album and Zyklon are no more

Still, seeing MA in a few months. As long as they do fit in some old stuff I'll be happy. Hmm.. I wonder if Radikult is any better live...

I think Radikult can't be good... As for some of the other tracks, they may be better live, but just not Radikult

Maybe, as they now have seen the reactions on the album. Still... I think they will play songs like Existo Vulgore and I am morbid, 10 more dead or something.

I mean, look at bands like Entombed who have very many fans who just like their two first albums, still they have never cared about that and played songs for like ALL of their albums on every gig, even albums like Inferno and stuff like that. (Sorry for OT, I just compared a bit)

But, the thing is that some bands care, while some bands does not give a shit. I don't know how MA is.

on the other hand dont forget that this is the first time that MA experimented. if they'll decide to change their whole style then they'll surely wont care... but i am not sure if they'll do that...

I bought the album and have to says that its not completely my vision of what death metal should be. On the other hand i think a band such as Morbid Angel doesn't
have to prove them self's anymore and that its perfectly oke if they want to experiment with there music. Even thou i don't like it. The do what they like and not what somebody tells them to do. I understand that the fans are disappointed but i think that we are gonna get over this and keep on supporting them.

I'm sure the Season of Mist execs would love to work on thinking of answers to provide the boys from MA to deflect questions targeting their opinions about that abomination.

I'm pretty sure that Dave Vincent has said that he likes the album, and about the criticism simply says that Sgt. Peppers was viewed poorly upon release-which of course is wrong, but there you go.

Trey's opinion? The album is simply

Haha. I was on a festival and saw a guy that looked very into morbid angel. He wore a very nice covenant t-shirt... I'm of course also very into them but I just could not resist stepping up by him and say "Radikult". He looked at me and I sed: "What do you think about the new album?". "DON'T ASK ME!!!! I'ts pure dissapointment" he answerd.

In fairness they done the whole experimental thing in 1995 with Laibach. Personally I'm not vastly against the new album, certainty not what I was hoping for, or expecting. However on the second listen where I mentally took away the Morbid Angel tag it's not too bad.

And every time you see a discussion of the new album, a cop somewhere is killed.

I have to agree though, here's a huge reason why for me too. Where I live, not much music selection is available. If I go to the best place I can to buy CDs, there would never have been any Morbid Angel. I've liked the band, and i've gotten into the old stuff, but whenever I go now, there is a Morbid Angel section!... With 5 copies of the new album and nothing else. I just want to get Covenant or Altars of Madness. From the songs I've heard those are awesome albums. But the new album... it's just terrible. Probably the worst release possible for getting into the band.

I love Morbid Angel!!! These guys are the best death metal band for me!!! Azagthoth has one of the most distinguishied lead guitar style in metal. And Vincent is a genius at whatever he does...This is my opinion up until Heretic. Since then I saw every single Morbid Angel tape after that be frowned upon. Even by hardcore supporters. That's why I was scared to listen to anything they made since Heretic.

Well...Heretic has it's moments. A lot of them, actually. But try to compare your favourite track from Heretic to a random one from Altars or Blessed are the Sick and you'll know what I mean.

Don't you talk about my favorite song like that, show some respect.

Can't wait to hear the new version, I hope they bring Coray from Slipknot as a guest vocalist, because that's would be perfect.
