I already made a thread discussing who's the metal band of the 2000s. We're halfway into the 2010s, and we've already seen some newer metal bands rising in popularity.

What are some bands that you think are candidates for the metal band of the 2010s? My personal picks would be Ghost, Triptykon, and Ne Obliviscaris.

Enslaved is the metal band of the 90s, 00s, and 10s.

Whoever it is though, I hope it's not those three you mentioned, although you're probably right with Ghost. I'm pretty sure they're the most popular band right now that released their debut in the 2010s, with Deafheaven maybe coming in second. I actually don't mind Deafheaven, at least they're doing their own thing. Ghost is just bleh.

Too bad their own thing sucks.

But yeah, I vouch for Enslaved.

Vektor, although they released their debut in 2009 which was at the end of the 2000s.

In terms of bands that started in the 2010's I agree about Ne Obliviscaris. I actually like Ghost but I don't think they will become bigger than they currently is.

I agree, but I don't think their 90s work was that good.. I mean not good enough to be called "Band of the 90s"

I agree with the 00s and 10s, just not the 90s part. I agree 2/3

Sometimes I tend to read some of the more mainstream metal media to get a feel of what's getting more mainstream traction and from what I gathered it seems that Gojira are probably atop the pile of the newer Metal bands, they are highly respected from both the underground and the mainstream and are an all around great band both in the studio and in live performances.
Enslaved are a strong contender as well, but Gojira seem to have an edge.

Gojira is more like the metal band of the 2000s.. All of their classics were released before 2010. That being said, L'Enfant Sauvage is mediocre and Magma just decent.

For me I'd be Deafheaven. Why? Because they popularized this type of music among mainstream audiences. You can hate them, but that's a big deal.

I would also mention portal. They started before 2010, but they brand of dm got really popular in the last couple of years.
