I have big expectations of this album, please deliver Moonsorrow!

This is about as off the beaten path as I go. I love their previous album. Please don't suck.

We can probably expect more raw production as well judging by their "Kuolleiden Maa" remix. Their website says it gives a hint of the direction they are heading next:

also true. well seems Venom and Gorgoroth when it goes to BM are not legit

That Kuolleiden Maa version sounds so good. If they keep that production on the new album it's gonna be immense!

Can't really go wrong with Moonsorrow. I've got high hopes for this album, their previous album was awesome.

Not very original art, no, but it screams raw black metal which I hope is reflected also in the music. Starting with "Hävitetty" the production has been a bit too clean for my taste even if their music keeps getting better and better.

This, combined with the sound of the remix I linked a few posts above, gets my hopes up for something closer to "Verisäkeet" in terms of production and composition. We'll see soon enough...

They've mentioned that a few times on their facebook. Both bands are pretty good friends with each other anyway.

This just went near the top of a lot of people's lists up there haha. What an album.

So what are people's verdicts on this? After my first spin I was impressed, especially by the opening track.

Definitely needs a couple spins, I think it's certainly more consistent than their last album in quality but that's just initial impressions

There's a typo in the tracklist: Ruttoletho -> Ruttolehto

Best album of the year so far. First listen got me hooked on the opening track. Epic.

Fifth spin since last night. Shades of skuggja which I adore married to the utter grandeur of sound typical of their work. Just perfect.

Very very good, I am impressed by the compositions. I just wished it could have been darker and a bit less "epic", but regardless, I know it might really grow on me like most of their albums and I still give it a very high score because I recognize how good it is.

It doesn't come close to v:havitetty for me but this is Moonsorrow we are talking about, this album will probably be better than basically anything released in 2016. We shall see.

Edit: Damn, after listening to it properly multiple times, I can safely say that this album is absolutely fucking amazing if not perfect. Thoroughly impressed by it, Moonsorrow are insanely good composers.

V:Havitetty blows Verisakeet out of the water, but ok

I'm not a fan of folk metal at all (except for a couple of bands) but blooooody hell this sounds awesome. Definitely better than Varjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa.

This album just happens to have the highest rating for a folk record ever on this site with a substantial amount of votes. Gonna check this out for sure.

Votes for popular bands tend to be inflated these days, so I wouldn't get your hopes up xD
