"Limelight" for me, especially the version on "Exit Stage Left". I've always loved that song.

I watched the latest DVD, and it's great, especially for people who are new to the band (like me). A very good documentary, which covers all periods of the band's history. Haven't watched the second DVD with live material.

I am getting into Rush at the moment, and it's not an easy thing. The only song that I totally love is "La Villa Strangiato," especially that awesome riff! "Limelight" is pretty cool too, and maybe "Tom Sawyer."

They're putting out a new album soon and have two new track available everywhere...they've sounded pretty solid but samey over the past twenty some odd years, but you can always count on them to keep putting out more of the same and with no real effort to really put it over the edge anymore...

I have seen the new documentary a half dozen times - can't get enough of it - the band members are so down to earth. I can listen to Neil Peart talk all day.

My thoughts exactly! Have you seen the 2112/Moving Pictures documentary from the Classic Albums series? I have seen it twice, and indeed I would listen and listen and listen to these guys speak.

How can one not like this band?

I should be a ashamed...being the huge Rush fan that I am, I still have to check out the MP/2112 doc.

I watched yesterday I Love You, Man and I spent a lot waiting for the Rush concert. Great movie. Any Rush fan should watch it.
Now getting onto the music. It is pretty fucked up that they made so few concerts on their Latin American Tour. I was expecting to be able to see them. Rush is such a great band and only since last year I am getting to know them real well.

Neil Pert talking about Moving Pictures track by track. When this guy speaks, you just freaking open your mouth and drool in amazement.

Agreed. Speaking of Neil, he's going to be doing a drum solo on Letterman Thursday night. Might be the first time I've wanted to watch late night television.

One funny thing I always wanted to ask: which Rush's song do think Voivod were listening to back in the day and said, "this is what we are gonna sound like?"

Timeless album... a truly great start in their chronology that was followed by many, many amazing albums.

That one is a classic man, but honestly I can find unmatchable greatness in albums before that. Their debut is for me one of the most underrated albums ever, and Caress of Steel is something I listen to almost every day and it just never gets old.

Really though I pretty much love every note of every song Rush has written though hehe.

I don't know, I have always considered Hemispheres better compared to 2112. I have not listened to much of anything else except for Moving Pictures, but I think it is inferior to both. I need to get into other stuff as well, like Caress of Steel, by which I am now intrigued. But also the band themselves have talked about how they loved Permanent Waves when it came out.

I consider myself the biggest Rush-head on this site so if you need any direction let me know. Caress of Steel by in large was considered a monumental failure at the time. Their record label was going to drop them after they finished out their contract. Of course their next recored was 2112 and the rest is history.

The last two tracks on Caress, The Necromancer and The Fountain of Lamneth are the two tracks you NEED to check out ktulu!

Bastille Day is on Caress of Steel. Limelight was from Moving Pictures, and if "The Temple of Syrinx" is what I think it is it's from 2112. So I could've answered 3 on that quiz. haha.

also @tea[m]ster: Agree 100% on the last 2 tracks of Caress being must listens, but I think the front end of that album is also great and it really leaves me satisfied every time and all 3 of those songs are awesome. I might even go as far as to say I like Caress of Steel a little more than 2112.

The vocals are obnoxious/annoying as ever! But it fits the band. I like them, they're a great listen, I find they have a layed back vibe to them too.
