100m running there is no diference in what track number you run, but when running the 200m there is because of the bend you have to run.
Swimming is important because of the waves coming back from the side when you swim in the outer lanes.

Swimming is important because of the waves coming back from the side when you swim in the outer lanes.

Well, no.

Lane 4 will be occupied by the best swimmer in a respective event whereas lane 1 and lane 8 will be assigned to swimmers who finishes last as per the timing in heats. The lane 4 swimmer always have an advantage to see his competitors from middle 'cause you get the best view of both sides. Whereas, outer lanes(lane 1 and lane 2) doesn't have this advantage and swimmers have to finish without analyzing about the positions of other swimmers.

As far as waves are concerned, well Breast stroke is considered to be one of the technical style of swimming and it breeds lot of waves sideways to the other swimmers. Still swimmers beats the flow of water and progress it towards finishing 1st. So, it really doesn't have any effect as long as you're damn good in your technique.

Our long jump champion won bronze and somewhat surprisingly kayak duo won silver. Other kayak teams and individuals were also good.


And about that basketball match : well , that is how you get the shit done!
