I am just reading the interview But hes probably right, its not doom anymore. It has probably gone in to slow core or something like that. Its still very good though.

I'm confused. So should I listen to this or not? Even Marcel said its acoustic-like.

Some 100% metalheads will probably whine about its softness but if you wanna hear one of the best albums this year you could try it.

Brilliant album. Nothing metal about it though. Also nothing core.

Surprised how much the simplicity works here. Obviously no distorted guitars or heavy rumbling bass doom here but the good vocals and the alternative/acoustic melodic metal like guitar playing really lifts it up.

Wait, what?

Maybe he doesn't know that slowcore has nothing to do with -core. Just like noisecore.

LoG mentioned slow core, which this has nothing to do with..
It is almost singer songwriter stuff we get here.

Actually noisecore does have something to do with -core since it stems from hardcore.

Diverge

Better than The Inside Room. The opening track and Pictures rank as two of the finest moments in Patrick Walker's career thus far. I would still classify this as melodic doom, and there are only a few moments when the guitars are *actually* acoustic. There are some moments where the riffs sound similar to moments in The Inside Room or Watching from a Distance, but it's not a bother for me. One of the leading candidates for my album of the year.

@Diverge, this has nothing to do with melodic doom at all.

Sounds like an acoustic rock version of The Inside Room.

Absolutely stunner record.

2nd on the trot, it's becoming quite a habit. Amazing album. Very well written.

Also of guitars, i don't hear any melody in it. Simple clean guitar work perfectly filled for right composition.

Edit - The studio they recorded in just 2 hrs away from my home in Cardiff. I did not know they been residing there and recording what could be the AOTY '16.

@Diverge, this has nothing to do with melodic doom at all.

I think we've all had some difficulties even describing the music with our previous labels. Like the term "acoustic", "melodic doom" is an incorrect descriptor (I agree with you 100% now, especially in light of Bitter's wonderful review).
