"The Quaker"
I had not said this in 10 years for a new Pain of Salvation song but it sounds quite good!

I'm pleased This sounds promising but then again everything they said about this new album was already promising.

Can't wait to hear more.

Quite possibly the worst PoS song.

Wasn't too moved by this really...a little disappointed actually. Pretty simplistic compared to their usual sound.

Quite possibly the worst PoS song.

Do you hate it that much? ahah I still has a bit of Road Salt in it but it's not terrible, to me.

Whatever bits it has in it, I found it hard to sit through the whole song. But Pos used to be a solid band, I will surely give the new album a fair chance.

It has large chunks of Ragnar Sólberg in it. Judging from some comments on Youtube the song is based on an earlier one of his band which kind of explains its (more or less) simplicity. But what do you think which kind of song they would pick to release as a single? This is probably the album's Ashes, being one of the shortest ones on the new record. I'm sure the 7 or 15 min songs will be quite different and the first snippet with the polyrhythm they released also sounded quite different already
Having said that, I actually like this song. Even if it might not be on par with other short PoS songs it's moving and perfectly fits the supposed overall theme.

I like it, but the first song a band release is very often one of the weakest songs on the album.

You shouldn't compare it to "Ashes" though, that being one of their best songs. But it might have something to do with the length.

Ragnar sounds a lot like a woman in this song...did he always sound that way? One hell of a range.

Sounds like a woman, looks like a woman...
Not a criticism at all though. I'm totally gay for the guy
Saw him in person. So gorgeous

Indeed. I was convinced they had switched to a female guitarist without telling anyone (because I never really watch live stuff so I didn't really know what he looked like.)

It's interesting, I rather find the lack of "Road Salt" appealing, and it gave me chills. The verse is is so moody is reminds me of Leprous a bit and Mice On Stilts a lot

This song doesn't do justice to the old POS. It's not terrible but rather middle-of-the-road.
And the video is just sick and narcissistic.
