Barren Earth - New Album In The Works


If you were hoping for a new Barren Earth album, your wish has been granted! The progressive melodic death metallers from Finland have shared good news recently as they begin the pre-production stages of a new record. For now, the group has shared some pictures from the process.

On Lonely Towers, released in 2015, is the band's latest record.

Au Pays Natal
Their last album stunk even tho they tried to change their sound a bit. Props to them for not wanting to be repetitive, but the album was a letdown.

Their first album was pretty damn good but they haven't made anything interesting in at least two cds. Iirc they lost an essential member somewhere

Mikko left to focus on Swallow the Sun. Although that doesn't really explain the second album.

Looking forward to hearing what they come up with this time. The last album felt like it had a lot of promise and ideas, but it never quite came together. To be expected, I guess, when incorporating a new singer into the process -- especially when Jon seems more involved on the creative side than Miko was. Am hoping that having one album together and some touring behind it will give the new material more unity and energy.

Also hoping the new album carries the middle more strongly (or at least doesn't bog down as much under the weight of slow sections in the middle). More balance between Jon's operatic doom and Sami's shred would help that along.
