Here I present: Morbid Saint!

One of the more unknown Thrash bands, who definatly deserve a mention among the classics! They are legendary in my eyes, for their only full-length album: Spectrum Of Death. That was a piece of very aggressive and extreme Thrash metal which should be mentioned in one breath among the well-known classics. But they are not. I still don't have a clue why.

I really hope this thread will get some replies, cause I know a fair amount of people like them on this forum. So post away and discuss Morbid Saint!

Yeah there was actually a different cover already, but wasn't used, according to this site. I think it's pretty sick actually. http://www.pcmdusa.com/ms/

And I finally found a copy online of the reissue with Destruction System. It should be coming pretty soon

Be happy then, cause it is an awesome album. And that different cover is on the back of the booklet.

Any link for buying the album , most of the ebays rates are 75$ +

Only 500 were printed of that rerelease that's probably the reason it si soooo expensive on ebay.

Really that expensive? Then it must be the album in my collection that is worth most. I thought that'd be Lurker Of Chalice or Alcest.

Depends from day to day... it dpends on what any fool would give. But why would Alcest be expensive?

According to some, Le Secret gets up to 60USD on E-Bay biddings. Haven't recently seen one though.

Jeez, that's weird. Okay it is decent but not brilliant or ultra rare.

Okay back on topic Morbid Saint are a good band with one good (not great or classic IMO cause for the era it was recorded in it was quite generic) release but 75$ it isn't worth cause as Destruction System shows that release would already have been a step down from Spectrum Of Death

Well, I do think it is a great release and a classic. But of course, lots of that 75$ tag is caused by cult and fame and the limitation of the release of course.

I'd certainly rate it as a classic. It's got a rare, very genuine raw and aggressive feeling that just doesn't come across on that many albums, at least not for me. Although I'm glad it's underrated and not so well known, compared to certain other thrash bands of that era who are overrated and really arn't that great.

A bit off-topicness... so which bands of that era (so around 1988) would you call overrated> I am just curious.

Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax etc. I just meant that Spectrum of Death, for me, is as good as, if not better than anything most of the well known thrash bands released during the 80s.

I would also consider it a classic. About The Big Four and their fame, you need to keep in mind they had several albums out already so would almost be bound to have more exposure. Also probably something to do with the labels... *adds to favourite threads*

Are you going for it? Are all these prices in American dollars? That would be just about $100 here... I'd probably never spend more than $40 on it

Hell no!! I already own the re-release with the EP, and am perfectly fine with that. Can't believe they also limited the re-release though..

By the way, I don't think I'd ever send 60$ to an e-bayer that has no score just yet. Could just as well be a rip-off.

EP?
Destruction System is the UNreleased second FULL-length by the band.

Yeah and they limted to re-release to 500 copies (which is even less than the original LP/CD)

i read this everywhere and I can't agree at all. even back in the days when possessed and slaughter started this new thing called "death metal" they sounded different then most of the thrash metal bands from that time. morbid saint doesn't have any death metal influences. the riffs, the basslines and the drumming, everything is thrash metal here, especially the vocals. they remind me on num skull, also a lost and forgotten thrash-classic from the 80's.

great, so you're a person who claims to be a elitist or what mad laughter? why do you care about what other people call it, what do YOU hear when you hear morbid saint? i don't care about people who call them death/thrash or whatever, you can call it african folk music with gothic elements, i really don't care. first off all, the music makes it what it is, not the vocals. or would stratovarious be death metal if they'd start to growl? is children of bodom melodic black metal or what? give me a fucking break. the riffs are pure thrash metal, the drums are just fast-forward and thrashy as hell.
