Hi! I was thinking about this topic and I really like historic sutff mixed with metal. And i Though "wich bands talk about Anciente Greek History?".
Of course Firewind is my first thought. But i know about Symphony X, Blind Guardian, Sabaton, Virgin Steele and Iron Fire. ¿Maybe Iced earth with the two live albums in ancient greek places?
Iron Maiden's "Alexander The Great" from the album Somewhere In Time is very famous. Manowar's entire The Triumph Of Steel album. Also Macabre Omen's Gods Of War - At War album, which is a great black metal album (early Bathory style). Kawir (Greek pagan black metal band) also have ancient Greek history and mythology themed songs. These are the ones that come to mind right now.
I'm pretty sure Astarte has a few songs about Greek mythology.

I have a blog where I attempt to dispel myths about metal: actvalmetal.wordpress.com
You decide if it's terrible or not. Feedback is always encouraged!
Therion songs Typhon, An Arrow From The Sun, The Wand of Abaris, The Falling Stone, Dark Venus Persephone. And probably others.

"Another day, another Doug."
"I'll fight you on one condition. That you lower your nipples."
" 'Tis a lie! Thy backside is whole and ungobbled, thou ungrateful whelp!"
Iron Maiden - Alexander The Great, Flight of Icarus
This isn't about Greece (or perhaps very loosely), but Ex Deo's music pretty much covers Roman history/legends. They've had albums about Caligula, Romulus and Hannibal.

Ordinary men hate solitude. But the Master makes use of it, embracing his aloneness, realizing he is one with the whole universe (Lao Tzu).
The death metal band Kronos. I think they're French, but the lyrical themes are ancient Greece, more precisely Greek mythology. Their latest album "Arisen New Era" (2015) is pretty good, if you dig the genre. I haven't heard their other two albums; but judging from the son titles the theme is the same.
There is also Septicflesh, whom I think is Greek. They are not exclusively about ancient Greece but uses the theme now and then. The title of one of their early albums is actually written in Greek letters.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned The Odyssey by Symphony X. The entire album and the 24 minute song are all based on the Homer epic. Maybe it was too obvious.
