The task of writing an original and attention-grabbing review for a new Cannibal Corpse album is almost as hard as trying to make out the sick lyrics Corpsegrinder pours out. Nearly thirty years into their career, the band's sound evolution makes Motörhead look like the pinnacle of variety and diversity. Red Before Black is, as you might have guessed already, the 14th episode in a predictable series of aural horror.

Their original logo would compliment this art work much better. I never hold my breath for these guys anymore. Just nothing explosive after KILL, but you never know so fingers crossed.

Solid album, good fun. Don't care much for Corpus Delicti, but besides that just straight Death Metal fun.

Despite the fact Cannibal Corpse are considered "the Metallica of death metal," they are a fantastic band. Every album they've done have hit right where they're supposed to! Especially in this day and age, it's great to hear a true straight up death metal band sounds like. Many people may consider them bland, and there could be valid reasoning behind that. Considering nearly every adjective known to man has been used for a different type of death metal. It's reasonable to think there's something missing because we're getting so used to hearing Technical Death, Melodic Death, Symphonic Death, Blackend Death, etc. I can still fully appreciate Cannibal Corpse albums because they serve as a reminder where these newer bands started. Are there better straight death metal bands then Cannibal Corpse? Yes there are, but this is still an amazing album nonetheless. Great work Cannibal Corpse, can't wait to hear the next one.

A Nice Guy
This is perhaps their worst in terms of songwriting, and also Corpsegrinder's worst overall vocal performance imo. The songs are very bland, with no real highlighted moments other than a few decent riffs and solo's, and not bad drumming. The tempo seemed a bit thrashier, and they seemed to loose a bit of their brutal edge from previous their albums.

Overall it's not a bad listen but far from their standard capabilities.
