Throne of Rats

Probably my favorite band of all time, and I think they need a thread. I saw them live for the first time and they were amazing. They definatly have a style of their own that is hard to compare to. What does everyone else think about these guys, discuss your thoughts.

The first band I saw live actually! They opened up together with In Flames for Iron Maiden in Gothenburg 2 years ago. It's a good band and I like some songs. I'll get an album one day, but right now there are so much more I've to get first.

It seems everbody thinks Leviathan is their best, it seems I'm the only one that thinks Remission is their best, along with their EP's.

Remission is a masterpiece, I had felt a bit dissapointed with their other albums... Leviathan and Blood Mountain lack balance, bliss and the punching ambience of their first FL

Yeah, I agree... Remission has more of a heavy feel, not as good as Leviathan though...

I really enjoy Leviathan, particularly because of the Moby Dick inspired theme. I still have not given Remission or Blood Mountain enough listens to really determine how I would rate them all against one another.

Brann Dailor is a crazy good drummer. I've seen them live and they are brilliant! All three LP's are great, has anyone else listened to their song they did for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie called "Cut you up with a linolium knife"?

Leviathan is a great album, i don't know so much about the other albums but i want to hear them. i have heard that blood mountain is supposed to bee one of their best albums. But from the few songs i have heard from the album, i think leviathan is better actually.

My favourite Mastodon album is the one I'm listening to at the time. I really dig all three, and I think these guys have the opportunity to have a sort of impact Metallica had in the 80s - in the way that they have certain themes in their 3 albums so far. I love the way they loosely base their albums on something, and the fact they've based their 3 albums on the elements is about as prog as you can get. I'll be interested to hear their next album which (if they follow the trend) will be based on air, heh.

I've seen them twice now, and can't wait to see them again.

Mastodon rocks. My favorite is remission because its so pure so warm sounded. And the other albums ep'st hey have recorded are amazing too.I saw them live with Tool last Antichristmas but the sound was shit and they didn't play anything from remmision and i was a bit dissapointed but still their attitude was brilliant.as for as their technical abilities and the way that compose their songs is great.BRANN DAILOR IS A FUCKING SUPERIOR DRUMMER.Hope the next time i see them will be better.:banger2::banger2::banger2::banger2::banger2:

Young? He's been around for quite some time, I would expect him to be in his early to mid-30s so that's not really too young IMO

Well, he started with lethargy in 1993, so that's already six years before Mastodon.
