Faith No More - Former Singer Chuck Mosley Dead At 57

Faith No More are mourning the death of former singer Chuck Mosley, with whom the band reunited last year for two shows in California in celebration of the reissue of their long-out of print 1985 debut album, We Care A Lot. Chuck Mosley died at the age of 57 on Thursday and according to a statement released by his family, the cause of death was "due to the disease of addiction." Faith No More has also released a statement.

Faith No More's statement: "It's with a heavy, heavy heart we acknowledge the passing of our friend and bandmate, Chuck Mosley. He was a reckless and caterwauling force of energy who delivered with conviction and helped set us on a track of uniqueness and originality that would not have developed the way it had had he not been a part. How fortunate we are to have been able to perform with him last year in a reunion style when we re-released our very first record. His enthusiasm, his sense of humor, his style and his bravado will be missed by so many. We were a family, an odd and dysfunctional family, and we'll be forever grateful for the time we shared with Chuck."

The statement from the family: "After a long period of sobriety, Charles Henry Mosley III lost his life, on November 9th, 2017, due to the disease of addiction. We're sharing the manner in which he passed, in the hopes that it might serve as a warning or wake up call or beacon to anyone else struggling to fight for sobriety."

Mosley joined Faith No More in 1983 and sang on the band's first two studio albums, 1985's We Care A Lot and 1987's Introduce Yourself. Mosley was fired from the band in 1988 and replaced with singer Mike Patton. After his firing, Mosley sued his former Faith No More bandmates, claiming he was due a partnership stake. The two parties eventually settled out of court and Mosley had a short stint as frontman for the pioneering punk-reggae band Bad Brains.

This sums up nicely nearly everything the 1980s were about. The music, the lyrics, the fashion statement, even Rock Hudson and Transformers are mentioned. RIP Chuck.

Just started to listen to Faith No More a lot recently. Quite a shame, he had a unique style to his vocals. Will be missed, R.I.P.

A great loss...his vocals were simply amazing.

Thoughts and well wishes to his family and friends.
