Recommend metal albums from 2019.

Dissonant black death from Denver, Colorado.

German old school black.

Veiled

Irish blackened thrash with a thoroughly retro oriented approach.

Sacrilegia

Post- with great calm atmospheric passages and loud passages. Songwriting sounds of pristine quality.

Dawn Fades

Great old school meloblack as a tribute to pioneers of the genre. From Russia.

Malist

Perfect way to start the year: depressive, melancholic and fucking sad as you could be. Depressive / post-black with lot of melodic touches from Sweden. Ffo Heretoir, Anomalie, Amesoeurs and Harakiri For The Sky.

Together To The Stars

Other shameless retro regurgitated bullshit that I eagerly await.

Vaultwraith

Deiphago

I'm actually well excited for that Noctambulist record, I've listened to that track at least half a dozen times. Should definitely scratch the Ulcerate itch.

Wickedly rich sounding black metal. Nice veins of melody and non-lame use of synths.

Svartelder

Some competent, swampy sludge with some alternative touches.

Nice second wave black metal thing on Iron Bonehead productions.

Perverticon

Orthodox black metal that feels organic and really well written.

Very nearly didn't click on this as it's a Nuclear Blast band, but glad I did. Very Katatonia-esque melodic death doom. Good good.

Death Attaxx!!

Seriously awesome brutal death that brings to mind old classic like those of Kronos, early Suffocation albums etc.

Vile Apparation

New Ectovoid to satisfy your black / death needs of the day.

Southern California death that is dark, thick and notoriously bass heavy. Production surprisingly reminiscent of the Autopsy debut.

It's taken close to 20 years but these guys will launch their first album next year under the Festerday name. This is the band that were known as ...And Oceans and Havoc Unit for a time but are now returning to the Festerday name for some classic Finnish / Swedish death metal. which might be a bit too standard to please fans of their other named projects.

Also a new Altar Of Oblivion next year, surprised this wasn't picked up in here.

Good for a dark, heavy and dried out listen thanks to their production but otherwise they seem reluctant to learn any new technique.

Altarage

Tight, well written and melodeath with soaring epic clean vocals that I dig a lot. Their songwriting does sufficient justice to their bandname as well.

Hmm yeah, that seems sadly deficient in the songwriting department. Shame.

I can't even get round to checking out albums from this year from bands I know I like, don't know how I'll ever get round to checking out any of this stuff from bands I don't know, too much music in the world to keep track of!

Tbh no one listens to these recs anyway so I might just keep it down to the very, very best stuff that isn't on MS at the time.

Some pretty damn fine sounding dissonant black / death out next year on Iron Bonehead. Is a one-man project done by Swartadauþuz, who has made numerous awesome records, most notably stuff by his Gnipahålan project (one of my fave things that year). This is gonna be great.

Same, I love Evoken, but I still haven't listened to their new album, despite all the praise it gets everywhere.

I still haven't listened to the new PHOBOS. Sometimes it's easier to listen to stuff that hasn't been hyped.

Maybe include some of the most anticipated albums 2019 here, as your post was so short anyway?

These bands haven't even announced albums for next year... I don't see the point in listing band names anyway with no idea what they're going to sound like.

The new Gnaw Their Tongues out next year actualy sounds like some of his best work in a while. Very big and dense mixture of black metal and industrial ambient. It's fully listenable so not sure why it says 2019 though.

Maybe because its "finishing, working, re-arranging some old style (like more black metal) gtt tracks. old tracks, compilation tracks, never used tracks, two new tracks from 2013 to 2018", as per the official statement.

That just sounds like how the album came to be. I mean it sounds like it's pretty finished. In one of the Facebook comments Mories says that it's "digital first" so I'm guessing physical copies next year.

Oh wait, I assume you're talking about the quality, rather the release date query. I think the method on the new one is pretty standard fare for Mories. I could find any of the songs elsewhere so I don't think they've been released anywhere else (well, I checked like 4 of them). I think he just has tons of experiments lying around that he repurposes for new albums.

Yes I was referring to the quality. After the two last full lengths I stopped listening to new GTT stuff entirely, the eps, compilations and other stuff etc. Not gonna check out this as well. I will stick to his other projects for sometime.
