Every time I've heard any Crack the Skye album live, it's disappointed. If they've improved the live versions of the songs, I might go.

How is Coheed more relevant than Mastodon at this point? Welcome Home is literally their only hit song and that was nearly 15 years ago lol

Same can be said for Mastodon, I haven't really heard anything hyped by them since Blood Mountain, I remember hype on Skye but I never heard any individual single get as much praise.
Maybe I live under a rock. Unshamefully, I've been a CC fan since before Good Apollo and I agree they aren't as relevant as they used to be, and some albums were garbage, they do consistently have charm in their albums that I can't deny.

Coheed is the more popular band, which is why they are headlining. I don't think it jas anything to do with relevance. That being said, the last few Coheed releases were enjoyable, and they are always awesome live!

Mastodon won a Grammy last year for best Metal Performance (Sultans Curse) and best Rock Album. Curl Of the Burl and High Road won in 2012 and 2015. Not that the Grammys mean much of anything, still, they've had at least some relevance.

Heard them perform Crack the Skye twice live. It is definitely their best album, and the guys in the band seem to think so too. That said, it was back in 2009-2010. Their catalog has definitely become more diverse since then, so I would rather hear some of that mixed in as well.

Crack the Skye is my favorite Mastodon album and one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time (all genres). I've seen them live 3 times and whenever they'd play any songs of Crack I thought they were awesome. I've never seen them play The Czar live I'd have an orgasm and shit out my spine to hear them play that song live.
