even official snow mobile roads are 99% safe, but we ride over all and be in ice its always at your own risk, and mid april is my border when I go on the ice
30/08/2019; a day of huge importance. Finally, after so long, millions of people could at long last stop making the same tired jokes about waiting for the new Tool album.
This album is quite a strange one from a single listen. On most tracks, there are interesting moments that are truly worthy of the 13-year wait. One just wishes there was more judicious editing.... I think the vast majority of their songs overstay their welcome and just feel a little bloated, with the exceptions of Invincible and Culling Voices.
Not a life-transforming album, but I think most Tool fans will be satisfied when the dust settles. I don't really think it is even remotely close to the quality of previous Tool records, but that's okay by me. I also don't think any particular member has regressed considerably, although I think Maynard's vocal arrangements are a bit on the boring side at points. My interest in metal has been waning over the last few years and this album's most powerful asset is nostalgia (and, on 7empest, Meshuggahisms).
So I listened to it 6 times today (excluding the short bonus tracks). It is the least aggressive, most meditative, drum-centric and jammy tool record ever. Production is perfect. At points is has a quasi-dronish accent, which goes well with the percussions. Oh man the drums could be one of my favorite performances ever. Vocals are much more grounded. It might be the most "tool" they have ever done, with great flow between the tracks. Each song also has multiple movements with nice transitions.
Honestly I was expecting some degree of disappointment but this absolutely delivers. I think it is the 2nd best tool record ever.
After listening to the album all day today it is fantastic. It's everything I hoped for for sure. Pneuma, desending, culling voices, and 7empest are all phenomenal and the album flows really well with a softer more mellow flow overall with some heavy parts thrown in threw out. Might go down as my favorite tool album and that's not just because im pumped because it's new. 10/10
You know guys, those instrumental tracks that aren't on the leak might consist of looped baby crying and farting, so don't AotY it yet.
Apparently one of those tracks is junlge noise and monkies screening over a loop )) doesnt matter tbh given the fact that the album is 85 mins and all these trol tracks last ~8 mins combined
If the pre-released song is anything to go by, this album will be frickin' amazing. Bluestacks I hate having my expectations this high!

The only other album of theirs I know is Lateralus (and I really dont like that album), but seeing the hype for this I was curious to listen to it.
After 5 tracks it didnt do nothing for me, I dont get the appeal of the songwriting, just some cool solos here and there. The songs sounded really similar too, not much variation.
I loved the album but I think it's the worst in vocal terms. I mean, Maynard's tone doesn't even change. No screams like he used to do. Musically it's just a masterpiece. Descending or 7empest endings are just incredible. Solid 9 and I think the wait has been worth.

Pneuma could as well be the best song tool has ever done.fucking love the stabbing vocals.
Heard it and nope, their best song is still Sober.
Sober is the most biting song they have ever done and it is indeed amazing. However, I've listened to pneuma ~50 times in the last two days. Don't remember being impressed by anything like that in a very long time.
We should be Honest. This album is worse than 10,000days and too repeatedly, no power(these problems also have 10,000days. but at least that album has Vicarious, Rosetta stoned). I thought Fear inoculum has a track like The grudge, Parabola, even third eye. I missing Aenima and Lateralus. These albums my favorite..
I still don't know what to think about this album. I've heard it several times but I can't process it. At the moment it only stays at 8, maybe in the future I have more clear that I think since, well, it has been 13 years and I still don't believe it.

Here, waiting very quiet right in front Valaritas, the door that hides the tomb.

You cant process yet it stays at a "very good rating"? Only this year I started to listen to Tool seriously, because i bought tickets for their show in Lisbon and I had heard their shows were really worth it. And although I started to like Tool, im not a Tool fanboy (normally you either go full fanboy, or you dont listen to Tool). I think giving 8 to an album you cant process is definitely fanboyism.
I cant process the new Opeth, and never in my life I would give their recent albums even a 7, and I consider myself an Opeth fanboy.
