I generally feel a measure of skepticism when a band releases a self-titled album a long way into their career, and Lamb Of God doesn't do a lot to change that.

Correct.

Still not come out of "AOTW" that is continually bashed prior to 4 records that followed Ashes. "VII" was a catalyst to the typical pre-Sacrament sound, but not able to pull off the way it began and remained shallowed overall. In this record, it got much worse.

Pretty average for Lamb of God. Sort of feel like they ran out of steam on this one, and I miss Chris on drums

Looking back at the first time I saw them live in London around 2002-2003, I'm actually surprised they made it this far. This band just drags IMO. So boring, generic and uninspired...

A decent self-titled. I thought some of the riffs were great, particularly in the first half of the album. As a whole it's pretty average; their previous album was much more varied and had an overall better flow. Not sure if I will return to this as much as some of their better works.

Solid album with a solid riffs/hooks (OFC they trying make a hit songs with perfect formula but thats just normal) you can only be upset if you were expecting a revolution in sound. As soon as I saw the album title I thought that they combine the best and it will look like a compilation
zero problems with new material

This is pretty disappointing to be honest. Disappointing, but not surprising. When they parted ways with Adler I had my suspicions that the new drummer can fill in his shoes. Something isn't right about this album. Probably the best thing about it is Blythe's vocals.

Average boring formulaic stuff. No attention to details, the lyrics are recycled words, music is just another boring phrase after another. Has some moments, but it's average or below average. If your ideal is art, this is a 2 or 3 at best. We are just so concerned with big names nowadays (hi there marketing), this is really not good. If this was released by some unknown band and didn't have the brand and ads behind it, no one would even listen to it.

OK, it's Lamb of God, I love them, they do what they do and most of the times they do it great. Those who expect something extraordinary, or a breakthrough or a complete evolution to their sound with a new album, they are probably looking at the wrong band. However this particular album seems so uninspired with lots of generic known-formula riffs and filler songs. It's not bad, but I think it simply gets more credit than it deserves because of Lamb's big-band-name.

Sure has a few nice moments, it's worth a few spins, but that's it. Besides the song "Checkmate", I don't think any other ones from this album will still be in my memory in a month's time. By far their weakest moment.

After voting for VII i never thought that LOG will nosedive to this depth. With a blasting opener i thought the album would be sureshot hit but much to my disappointment none of the other songs stayed in my mind. Bcoz of the love to this band i tried my best to spin it 5 to 6 times but really got tired and bored in the end.
