I can do that too but it's nice to just pick it up and go when I'm short on time. Plus we get some different vegetables that aren't in our normal rotation so it keeps it interesting.
I was wondering what you guys think of the English black metal "scene".
I think alot of it has gone unnoticed even by English fans, (that's probably down to either lack of interest or the fact that we have probably have the weakest underground metal scene in Europe or even the world) according to the metal archives we have only 295 active BM bands from this country, but what we lack in numbers we make up for in shear quality of music (there is not [to my knowledge] a bad English BM band bar Arcane Church, they are probaly the worst example of the UKBM sound).
Now being from the UK these bands also have a slight hint of NWOBHM/Heavy Metal riffing.
bands such as Necro Ritual, Reign Of Erebus, Spearhead, Thus Defiled, The One, Abgott, Extinction, Heathen Deity, Hecate Enthroned, Archaicus, Crimson Darkness, Anaal Nathrakh (to name a few) are all amazing but all sound different (I don't think there is any UKBM bands that sound the same) and are good representatives of the genre (some are more well known than others).
Tell us your opinions on this (on a whole) widely neglected "scene", share bands that I haven't mentioned etc.
everyone should check out A Forest Of Stars. they play experimental black metal with a myriad of elements from other genres. they released a full-length this year. one song is available for stream at their myspace http://www.myspace.com/aforestofstars

I better die, because I never will learn speek english, so I choose dieing
to some longtime members, this will seem like an obvious suggestion, but for those who do not know much about them -
Check out The Meads Of Asphodel. They're signed to the same label as Drudkh, for god's sake! But if that isn't enough, check out their cover of Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World [yes, you read that correctly] on video:

They do a medieval tinged British Black Metal. They got MySpace as well.
A Forest Of Stars really are quite good indeed. Experimental though? Not in the slightest, violins and female vocals don't make them so. I'd regard them as atmospheric black metal at best. Overall great music, so much so I made my icon from their release 'The Corpse of Rebirth'.
Some other interesting UKBM releases include Skaldic Curse, Lyrinx. and Niroth (a member of which I have on my Facebook). All high quality bands worth checking out. Caina have some potential if he stops fucking about with the post rock elements so much. Another band I've heard good things about but not verified is Oubliette. Anyone heard 'em?
Glad the poster mentioned Archaicus. Been a huge fan of them for years as they came from Kent, my county. They shared members with Spearhead I believe. Their work is akin to early Satyricon but frankly a lot more interesting and atmospheric. One of my fave bands! Check them out.
As for how the British BM scene is doing, I still fervently believe that as long as The Meads Of Asphodel are around we'll be leading the way along with the French. If someone can point me to a band more interesting and clever than Meads then I might consider otherwise. Doubt you will though =]

Well he hasn't been black metal since the demos and has no intention of turning back so don't hold your breath. He's starting some new project which is in a more primitive, aggressive BM direction. Also, I get the impression that the White Medal 7" that Grief Foundation recs released recently is him.
You can talk to him on BMUK if you care.

I've always been a fan of Akercocke and Anaal Nathrakh...Cradle of Filth I don't really enjoy...there's always Venom but they are getting old and tired...um...I would say Bal-Sagoth after that but there are big arguments about them in the black metal camp...
I love Caina, Anaal Nathrakh. I can enojoy the post-rock mixed with black of Caina. For Anaal Natrakh, no need more introduction. Bal Shagoth also is good one, I also like Hecate Enthroned but they are not comparable with same genre bands coming from non UK. Ethernal is my new discover.
A total Deathspell Omega wannabe but a very good one if I do say so myself. It could almost be the record DsO made in between Inquisitors of Satan and SMRC:

Very true. And they executed it nicely.

Just listening to the album again for the first time in a long while. It's pretty solid stuff. Obviously it never reaches the height of DsO but it's a decent listen nonetheless.
Stonkingly good Enslaved-ish black metal debut EP:
J.O.O.E , if you haven't then check out Desolate Winds. I just posted about them here in this Extreme thread. Really good UKBM (more towards atmospheric).

The EP is on spotify, I shall give it a listen. Cheers.
I've lately been enjoying Wodensthrone's Curse and Fen's The Malediction Fields. Good albums.
Fen is excellent. Wodensthrone's Curse I'm not sure. I've played it a few time still haven't get the hang of it. Maybe I should play it a few more times.

Dunno, it instantly clicked with me. I split it into two parts, the first being the first 4 songs and the second being the second 4. I think it's easier this way.
Winterfylleth from Manchester.
Saw them live and will see them again at Wacken.
Here's a song from their 2010 album The Mercian Spere.
They're going to release their new album The Threnody Of Triumph in September.

Aahh Subvertio Deus! I saw them at their last show in Birmingham, they played the Wodensthrone/Forest Of Stars job. I know the guy who's band it is, he's starting a new project called Antinomian Speaking of that gig, Wodensthrone are INCREDIBLE. People keep referring to them as the UK's answer to Drudkh, immense live, and definitely worth checking out, very organic, paganesque and epic.

I totally should have remembered about that band seeing as they played in my town a few weeks ago. They were a bit boring live but that record is very nice if I remember.
