Yes it is, so they've sold 80,000 tickets. But it wouldn't surprise if they would sell some more tickets in a month or so (apparently that's what happened last year as well)

I think the popularity of wacken has to with Headbanger's Journey...

that is really amazing... really it is. hahaha!
although I don't see what can be drawing so many people over to Wacken other than its reputation - there are festivals out there with much better line-ups.. Graspop and of course Hellfest! ..in my opinion, of course.

still, I should be there and I am sure it will be another amazing experience

Anyone have any ideas of what plane tickets would cost to get overseas from USA to Germany?

A trip from Chicago - Copenhagen - Hamburg is around $900 one way...so pretty expensive

Damn I've got to go to one of these one day! I'm going to Europe this summer but not to Wacken Open Air. I'd preferably like to catch one where Stormwarrior are performing

I hate living in Australia sometimes. Definitely going to get over there within the next three years or so. Although this year's line-up is awesome.

Ah please.. Avenged Sevenfold confirmed. What the hell is wrong with the Wacken-crew?

SO what that they programmed a band not to your liking, there are loads of peopele going to Wacken who like Avenged Sevenfold.

And btw, 90% of the line-up sucks anyway (typical for Wacken IMO, I have never seen a line-up that scored healthily on that scale, not that 90% of the bands are crap, but those are bands you can see so many times a year anyway. Wacken is together with Graspop THE SAFEST metal festival in the world., no surprise, no place for unknown bands, no upcoming TALENT etc etc.)

I must say that a lot of bands in the line-up suck. I expected a lot more "big" bands, such as Morbid Angel, Nile, or Behemoth.

A preliminary running order has been uploaded. And it truly makes me wonder why I don't have any choice whether I want to see Iron Maiden or not...

I am very surprised Iron Maiden are playing the first day..
there is nothing else I really wwant to see the first day.. so it will be quite a relaxed one for me! hahaha

overall - as it stands there are only a few clashes that I could do without, nothing major though

I prefer having some options. Just like last year when I found Sodom to be utterly boring and discovered what would become one of my favorite bands on the small stage. But what shall one do with a desperate need for some non-NWOBHM while Iron Maiden occupy ALL stages for two hours?

Get drunk?

That's what I'll do at Hellfest when the Helloween vs Gamma Ray special set is going on. There there that is also the only stuff playing at that time.

Same here. Only I'm seeing Leaves' Eyes too on the first day...other than that I think the first day is made for getting drunk and in the mood for Iron Maiden.

The other days have a few clashes, but I think I'll survive.

BTW is there going to be a "official" MS-meeting at Wacken?

They definitely are! Gonna see them at Wacken for the fourth time this year. I'm a bit anxious though that the daylight gonna kill the atmosphere.

God damn! That's a great lineup! Warbringer, Holy Moses, Exodus and Kreator! It doesn't get much better as far as thrash is concerned! Last year was pretty good too on that area.

Can't wait for Maiden either though!
