I've been recently getting into this band. They're quite adventurous in the progressive vein and aren't afraid to explore every possible option there is. The keyboards are very daring and melodious, the guitars have both heavy and soft compositions, there are plenty of odd time signatures and the music is simply beautiful. The only thing I have problems getting into was the vocals. Sure, he's a great vocalist but I'm not sure if he fits into this band. Well, I guess if you don't know them you can check them out but I'm dying to here people's opinion on this band if any...

Somehow the name of this band appeals to me in a very unconcious fashion... And seeing that I appreciate progressive metal quite a bit, I will give these guys a try in the near future and post my experiences!

Go and listen to them again...I suggest the album Deliverance...you don't have any progressive metal bands listed in your favorite bands anyway so us proggies would like them a lot better than you anyway...

I suppose so, I am not that much into Progressive bands, even the ones I like are not "pure" prog, but with some other influences. I will listen to them again though.

Yeah...I suppose that Sylvan are one of those "pure" prog bands...their songs go into many different places and isn't just verse-chorus you know...takes a lot of patience which I have plenty of...Unconsciously, Seeking Nights Defiant Ways, and No Way Out are among some of my favs...

Oh yes, this band is great. I've recently played their album "Artificial Paradise". That and "Posthumous Silent" are the albums I strongly recommend. And Deliverance is the only album of them that I haven't found.

I had Deliverence on my old external hard drive because I crashed it and now I'm also having problems finding it again...

I am really into this band right now...just listened to "Posthumous Silence", now onto "Presets". Can someone tell me if their first couple of releases are as good as their last two?

New album out on 25th September. The myspace preview of it sounds quite cool.

yeah this one took a few listens to get into...not as good as Presets or Posthumous but not a terrible album either

This is a great band, I'm definitely a progger myself anyway. Their new album "Sceneries" is awesome and will probably appear in my Top Twenty list at the end of the year.

A neo-prog band that bored me pretty quickly; most of their albums sound like a second hand Pendragon/IQ.
