Satan must be cooking something then?

This was an unexpected surprise! I was expecting a funny Folk Metal project instead I got fiddling madness from the United States! Devil In The Kitchen is a band that have a quite simple formula, violin and Speed Metal. Riffs escort the violin while the latter marks all the leads, this is like having a ultra party mix for gnomes and leprechauns.

The fundamental piece of the band is Andy Reiner, violin virtuoso, his fiddling is omnipresent in each song, while other Folk Metal bands try to balance the folk instruments with the music, Devil In The Kitchen put all instrumentation behind the fiddle, you'll hardly listen parts without the violin present.

If we took the violin away, we would have some sort of raw Speed-Thrash Metal, reminiscent of some eighties Thrash bands. The combined forces of the violin plus the music makes the sound really energetic and dynamic, each song is quite unique and fun to listen. The seven songs contained in this Ep are quite good, the cover art is funny and it fits the music well, although the overall production could need some arrangements, but hey, this is a self-released effort, so the lack of a proper production is not such a big deal.

Now, the question is how would this sound if we add some vocals to the mix? I can't really tell, I mean, this is a fun listen, but I don't know how a full-length would sound, maybe a complete hour of fiddling could become annoying, maybe one or two songs with a singer can be a good thing.

Either way, this is an interesting project, original, innovative and creative, Devil In The Kitchen came up with a great way to deliver Folk Metal, a genre that is gaining adepts each day, for all of you fans of Folk Metal, this is a must have.
