i think it's because when you have a black background that it just absorbs all the colours, but with a white background it all bounces back to your eyes and so thw rods and cones get more of a work out, because sometimes when you have a 2 hour lesson in computer studies typeing on word then u just want to do something else.

White writing on a black background is actually easier for the eyes to distinguish, so I vote for this. Besides, I don't find myself leaning forward to read a word every now and then with this setup  . The again, this could relate to me needing glasses

When im reading from screens i prefer White Text on Black background, but when im reading on paper i prefer Black Text on White Background

Black text on a white background for me, no particular reason, it is just easier. Although, not sure how to classify easier in this case, not that I have problems with reading white on black lol

My girlfriend uses a blue background when using Word...it's quite nice. I prefer white text on a darker background (not nesessarily black) 'cause it's not as "bright"

I think it's easier for me to read white text on black background. metalstorm has good job becuz background is black but background of text is pale that is easier to read and so good

of course light background is a thousand times more harmful than dark background,but if we talk about traditional books,or low luminosity devices(E-book readers),then black text is better.

White text of black background definitely gets my vote.
It's so much more comfortable for my eyes. I usually get headache after several hours of writing on a white background - it's just too "screaming" tbh.

I gotta agree that the white text on the black background is better, it doesn't hurt my eyes after some time, as the opposite way does.
