I am on MS a lot, and at school I use Microsoft word once in a while, It made me think of something, does color matter on eyes?

I find that white text on a black backgound is easier on my eyes, while black text on white background makes my eyes feel more drowsy. How about you?

White writting on a black background is totally metal and tr00 !

Black writting on a white background is main-stream and since Microsoft uses it (which makes billions every year) it's totally sold-out and it sucks (just like Trivium).

I've never thought about this, but now that you mention it.. i guess black with white letters may be a bit easier on the eyes.

Within the information at Wikipedia, it says that Blackle doesn't display all the results that Google shows during a search. Additionally, it doesn't have the "advance search" and other functions that Google has. It works more for fast searches and for setting yourself apart from the trend of using standard Google. I don't use it that often but I thought it was pertinent to this thread, somehow.

well when comparing MetalStorm's light grey text on a dark grey background to black text on a white background, i agree, it's easier for the eyes, however if we're talking about real white letters on a real black background than i DEFINITELY prefer the standard black text on a white background, white letters on a black background is atrocious in my opinion, i don't consider the MS version white on black though

I prefer white on a black background on a computer, but when it comes to reading a book, I'm sticking with the black on white background.

i like the most black letters but not on clean white bg but on something more to blue tones - of course on computer screen only, in books it will be hard (e.g. when i making own web pages i design them so)

I find them both quite easy to read but I think I'll go with the traditional black text on a white background. As Bas said, white text on a plain black background can look terrible, as I find that the black background seems to dominate the text. MS has a nice contrast of grey and black which makes the text easy to read though.

White letters and black background. Its alot easier on my eyes since I work 8 hours on a computer everyday.

Usually I prefer white text on black background. However, the light in my bedroom hasn't worked for a week or so, so I've been digging white backgrounds lately (as it can make up for my lack of light ).

Never thought of that, as long as the text is big enough for me to read I'd be happy regardless of which color it was used.

I just know that when reading/presenting a presentation if it were in colors than both of your left and right side of the brain will be working Vs B&W only one side will, and so chances you'll remember a slide in colors is much higher than B&W slide

I know that fact because on my first day of my job I had the misfortune to say that I didn't have a preference of what color my boss will print the presentation, then he looks at me and says "I'll print it in color, you know why?" and he gives that story, and another and another and 2 hours later he was done with chit chating :

Exactly; it uses up too much ink.

It's not important, I can read the same, When I'm reading I'm always in a shady place so the sunlight doesn't botherif it reflects on white paper, nor in a computer screen.

There should be an option like "I can read both" or something like that.

It's important to keep your eyes healthy, for me, a white background for a long time gets my eyes very dry, and black background forces my eyes, my solution: mild gray background with black letters check it out, I recommend it!!:

I voted black text on a white background..but maybe that is because I'm just more used to it.

Speaking of MS I'd say that this solution we have here with white text on dark calm background is very good....so I voted for this option...

I voted for white on black. It seems like a very good solution, if not best. Damn, I was at some site reading about Norse mythology, and they had light yellow letters on white surface. No chance to read it, you must sellect the text first, until it becomes blue, lol.... Certainly good way to get headache.

I hate having to do that! Especially on messengers when the other person decides to use a very light color. People like that deserve a sword in their chest!

I like white on black background, seems pleasant. And yellow on white... Grey on black... Pale green on pink... Epilepsy kicking in...
