For a while now I've been listening to a lot of black metal bands that up until recently I hadn't had the vaguest clue about. One of them is a French raw black metal band called Glorior Belli, an act associated with bands such as Temple of Baal, Obscurus Advocam and Blackgod. After familiarizing with more French acts, I found this band to be some great listening.

They've recently been added to the Featured Bands section here.

They've only appeared more recently and I understand most of you have no idea who they are, still, I'm curious as to what you guys have to say about them.

:) Something to do when work gets too tedious.

Compose music in your trailer or listen to the new GB album?

I think I'll just listen to the new GB album. Oh wait I have, and it's awesome! Found these guys shortly after Meet Us At the Southern Sign and fell in love imediately. Definitely one of the best BM bands out there right now...

"Meet Us At the Southern Sign" I remember as a very good listen. I found out about them through Funeral March Zine and the first record I heard was actually "Manifesting the Raging Beast" but it was "Meet us..." that defined them to me. Still haven't heard the new one though.

If you liked Southern Sign I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy the latest.

It was much better. after "Manifesting...", which i really dug, I was disappointed in "Southern Sign". really enjoying the new effort, somehow the fusion of genres seems drastically better.

Aw man !J.O.O.E.! the Great Southern Darkness is phenomenal sure it's not as black as the last 3 albums but it is the birth of a new genre. They take what they started in Meet Us at the Southern sign and advanced it. At least they aren't getting weaker they seem to be getting darker however

this is a Glorior Belli thread... i have no problem with you promoting your own project on MS, but can we keep it off other threads?

as a fan of GB, badgering me on a GB thread is more likely to discourage me from checking your stuff out.

Though I am rather suprised as to how well some of these southern rock influences have been converted into black metal, this album still tends to bore the fuck out of me. Nine mainly sterile & monotonous tracks of cross-over southern rock black metal & two more generally southern rock/grunge oriented tracks with a very light blackish vibe. I'm not a fan of this redneck black 'n roll. Glorior Belli ended with "Manifesting the Raging Beast".

I don't think they particularly care.

Glorior Belli Official:
‎"i used to be a glorior belli fan until they started playing swampy alternative grunge funk or whatever the hell. after that I completely lost interest".

they've taken to openly mocking that viewpoint.
